Summer Storm by Sara Teasdale (1884 - 1933).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/summer-storm-by-sara-teasdale/
The season is starting to wind down, here is a celebration of summer storms, taken from Flame and Shadow (1920). ( David Lawrence)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Summer Storm by Sara Teasdale, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal URL.]
Then read the poem:
The panther wind
Leaps out of the night,
The snake of lightning
Is twisting and white,
The lion of thunder
Roars—and we
Sit still and content
Under a tree—
We have met fate together
And love and pain,
Why should we fear
The wrath of the rain!

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: summerstorm_teasdale_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. summerstorm_teasdale_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

*Readers, please check back in a day or so for any feedback regarding your reading.

*Best to copy the filename provided above into the LV Uploader, inserting your initials of course.

Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
  • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader

Hello,

Here is my submission: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/summerstorm_teasdale_cjph_128kb.mp3
Time: 00:38

PS. Unfortunately, I was only able to do minor edits with this recording because there was an error with Audacity, that is, I couldn't hear myself. A tab appears saying: Try changing the audio host, playback device and the project sample size.

Many thanks,
Chad

Here's mine at 49 seconds. Just moved into a new recording space
and I'm still in the process of treating the inside. Hope it's not
too obvious.

Thank you Eric, your volume is low at 78 dB, you should aim for your waveforms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:

Image

You can check your volume using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker You will find the volume in decibels on the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK) (all the other tech specs are there also)
Please up;load an amplified file, using the same filename, thanks.

Hello!

I've got a copy to upload but quick question first... does it matter that my initials are the same as OooThatsNifty's (down as section 6 in magic window)? Thought I'd best check that uploading a file with an identical filename wouldn't bork anything up!

Thanks

Thanks for noticing that :D better to use different initials for your file, yours will rename the original file.
