Around 11:18, I think a word is missing, here in bold "dismissing her feeling of uneasiness"

Now that story has some parts that might not be publishable today... He says at some point "I have acted pretty white up to now", I wonder if it has any racist connotations, him having been in Africa and all... Or is it a phrase to mean "act decently" without any racial regard?

Welcome to the Ghost and Horror Collection, Christine! Thank you for your contribution! Bierce's stories are always welcome here And you did a fine job reading it!
I will amplify your file's volume a bit before cataloguing, to match the rest of the recordings in the collection. (I will make a note of it in the Magic Window, so I won't forget). I get the volume at around 85dB, as measured by the Checker. I don't know how familiar you are with editing. There are spikes in the waveform that will not allow further amplification with the Amplify effect in Audacity, but we can amplify using the Compression effect instead.
