Hi Alisha,
It is such a cute story.
There are some updates needed to your file.
1- reduce the opening silence to 1 second
2- reduce the closing silence to 5 seconds
3- The microphone bumping noise at 1:06~ redo this piece
4- 7:40-7:44 Microphone noise and rustling~ redo this piece
5- 8:14 Stumble "drink" ~edit out the first
Please make these changes, reupload the corrected file, and post it here.
Thanks,
-Amy

Hello!

Here's another one from the More Recent Sci Fi list of yet-to-be-recorded goodies.

Far From Home
by J.A. Taylor

Text: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/23408

https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/ssf071_farfromhome_taylor_ag_128kb.mp3
Time: 39:10

Notes:

- During editing, I realized that I had accidentally switched my mic from cardioid to omnidirectional for the entire recording. This passed Checker just fine, but I feel like I've still got a bit of a tin-can effect happening. If you've got any tips to mitigate that without fully rerecording, I'd love to see if I can touch things up.

- No spoilers, but given the circumstance I wasn't sure whether the "Formidable!" at 37:37 was intended to be English or French. I went with English, but happy to switch if need be.

Thanks!

Hi,
Okay, I will listen for the formidable. :) Thanks for the link to the 'more recent scifi' thread. I updated the opening post with it and bumped that and the 'early scifi yet to be recorded' threads to the top of the 'where to find texts' list.
I am not sure about how the microphone issue could be filtered out, but Phil Chenevert is a font of knowledge about Audacity. He would know if it is possible. Or you could post in the Need Help forum.
I gave it a quick listen. I don't see any reason to have to rerecord it, if there is nothing that can be done.
I will PL soon.
Thanks!

I found your reading formidable(French). But I agree that it was the English way in the story.

Hi Dale,
I think Algernon Blackwood had something to do with Weird Tales. If you find the real ones out there, they are worth some money.
