Section 18 is PL OK. He sounds much like Robert Ingersoll in his praise of scientists and artists, in fact they were contemporaries and I just read (listening to Carnegie's autobiography) that he knew Ingersoll. Very interesting chapter, and well read! This type of material is right up your alley!
Thank you so much! I'm honored to read it :)

Michele,

Should I re-post the link here, or are you able to find it?

Sorry again,

Hello Tom, and welcome to the project. I took a listen at your 1 minute test and it sounds great. So I'd say you're ready to grab a few sections to record. I generally advise new readers to select a few short sections (under 2000 words, or one of our poetry projects) to get a handle on editing track and how things work around here, and I'll reserve the longer Section 11 for you, too. All the instructions you need to follow are in the first post of each project you get into, including what to say at the Intro and Outro, what exactly to name your files and where to upload them. This varies with each project. I will need to know the name you want to show up in our catalogue. Could be your real name, your username, or even a different handle, but once selected it can't be changed on any catalogued project. This is a name your fans and friends can type into the search bar on the home page to see a list of all your recordings here. Once I get that I can enter your claim into the MW (Magic Window), and the section will be officially "assigned" to you. Ask whenever you have questions.

Thank you, Michele! I guess I will use Tom Carroll for the name that appears in the catalog.

Also, thank you for taking the time to welcome me and provide some guidance -- it's much appreciated!

I'm looking forward to working with you and the team on this project.

Kind regards,

Tom

Ok, Tom, you are in the system now as Tom Carroll (required only once), and section 11 is assigned to you. Now, why don't you take a minute to set up a signature for yourself. Click the drop down button in the upper right corner of any forum page, next to your username, and click Control Panel. From there, set up how you want to receive messages, append an automatic signature to every post (see mine below), and other neat personal items. Also, take time to check out our Librivox Wiki (menu above), which has many Video tutorials on how to edit files. Of most help are setting up good Keyboard shortcuts, which save a lot of time.

I look forward to listening to your recordings and don't hesitate to ask questions. There is a learning curve, learningguy! :D
