Section 15 is PL OK

PL Notes Section 20
1:17 repeat, In apprehension
2:27 after vege-tation arose, you say "vegi-cation". I had a good laugh at that.
4:27 Herbert Spencer, you say Hubert
7:33 which alone can determine its own wants, you say can be determined its own wants. Could just cut out "be" and slice off the final "d" in determined, rather than try to match a re-recorded segment.

Michele, thanks for the catches.

1:17 Deleted ( )

2:27 I really think I said that correctly. I listened to it about four times and heard "Vegitation".

4:27 Corrected

7:33 I tried and hope it works. It worked on it for about 15 minutes. The 'be' came out easily, but the "ed" not so much. If it works, good, if not, send it back and I will rerecord that whole section.

Section 6 is uploaded. Thanks Bill for agreeing to PL. I will be listening to yours very soon too. It is a treat for me spending time with great minds who were trying to figure things out! It sure wasn't as easy as we take for granted today.

I'd like to try sections 11, 12 (Wealth) and 17 (Individualism vs Socialism).

It is my first time narrating and I don't have an American accent so I'd understand if it was a no. My 1 minute test is here: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test2_djpentz.mp3. :-)

Hi Darryl, and welcome to Librivox. No problem with a British accent whatever, but you have chosen some fairly long sections to inaugurate your foray into recording. My recommendation is you start with 17, the shortest of the 3, and see how it goes. At about 4000 words, that file alone will end up being around 25 minutes long. I'm looking forward to what Carnegie says on the subject. I'll reserve the two parts of Wealth for you as well.

Please give me the name you would like to show up in our catalog. Could be your real name, username, or nickname, but once selected it cannot be changed for any catalogued work.

Hello, Michele,

Section 4 has been uploaded at https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/empireofbusiness_04_carnegie_128kb.mp3 (38:32), ready for PL.

There are lots of names in this section. I'm more than happy to correct if I read any wrong. Thanks.

Hi Michele,

Given your advice, I wonder if you could give me feedback on this first test, reading the first ~2.5 pages of section 17. I thought let me get input before I get too far down the road, so to speak.

Kind regards,

Darryl, the test sounds good, all within range. Nice clear diction. Good pacing. Volume at 87.4 could be boosted 1.6 to our median 89 dB (easier to remember from file to file, especially if you are reading a solo or multiple files in a row.) Might as well start good habits from the get-go, eh.

Another good habit is to check each file before uploading, using our Checker program. Here is where to find the Checker program download, and instructions on how to use it.
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker
Also if you begin PL'ing other people's work, you will need to use it.

So, I'd say you're good to go. Don't forget to supply me with a Catalogue Name. I can't put you in the Magic Window without that.

Hi Michele,

Thanks for the feedback. All noted.

As for catalogue name, I think 'djpentz' will be fine.

Thanks!
Darryl
