The Astonishing History of Troy Town by Sir Arthur Thomas Quiller-Couch (1863 - 1944).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/history-of-troy-town-by-sir-arthur-thomas-quiller-couch/
A humorous story about some of the extraordinary inhabitants of a British seaside town.
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/17263
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Dave -

Off I go again! Hope this is OK with you. A new author for me.

I know well the town in Cornwall on which it is based.

I'll start in the next few days -

Let me know if any changes are needed. I removed the hyphen in the filename. I'm always cautious about using them though I don't think they would cause a problem here.

Many thanks, Dave - I'll get cracking next week.

(I've spent many happy holidays in Cornwall and have a good friend who lives in Fowey, which is the basis of Troy Town.)

So here are:

Dedication (1.44):

And Chapter 1 (10:57):

I've checked on the pronunciation of the author's name, by the way.
