Great! I now added you and you should be able to log into the MW (the small link below the box in the first post). Filling out of the MW has not changed at all.

As to your friend - great to have new people here! Let me know here when she is through with the registration process, so I can add her as DPL properly.

I've actually done a fair bit of recording/editing on the book already, first to make sure I wanted to do it, and then I was just lazy and didn't get around to creating this thread. : ) Now I just need to fix the intros/outros and fiddle a little more with the recordings...

Garonne, when you come onboard: the greatest challenge in this one is obviously the occasional Scots dialogue (or standard English with Scottish accent, I can't tell the difference). I've tried a bit to find someone to read it for me, but no luck. My approach, if you think it works, is going to be to tone it down as much possible, because I can't do it justice anyway. That is, I will read it in my normal accent as much as I can. You've at least lived in Scotland--let me know how you think it works, and if you notice words that are actually mispronounced. (I realized after six chapters that I was emphasizing the wrong syllable of Montrose, ha ha. *facepalm*)

And I know you won't be that fast as a listener--no worries, I'm not in a hurry.

1) It says I shouldn't use " for titles in the MW. Is it okay with two ' signs instead? I have used that for now...
2) Should I both edit links/duration times into the MW and also post them in comments every time I have a new chapter? That seems a little redundant, but it seems like that's what the instructions say.

1) Yes, that should be fine for now.

2) As this is a solo project with a DPL, posting links and duration times in comments is not necessary. Some people do that but most don't. For my solos I usually post something like "Chapter 5 ready" just so that my DPL gets a comment notification and sees that there is something new to listen to. Links and all that are in the MW and easy to see.

Chapters 2, 3, and 4 up now. In Chapter 3 I get to sing folk songs! The lyrics are written by the author (she was also a poet) but I can't find any melodies online, so I made up my own. Which is a bonus, as I love both to sing and to compose melodies. : ) Although it's a bit intimidating when the singer is supposed to have "a voice whose volume, flexibility, and extreme sweetness seemed incredible", heh.

I think your approach to the Scots dialogue is working, i.e. keeping the Scots vocabulary as written but with your usual accent. Sometimes it is a little difficult to understand, but no more so than when reading the written text, i.e. the difficulty is intrinsic to the novel and not added by your recording.

Yes, that works fine for me! Don't worry about editing the Magic Window, I can do that.

And I'm glad my approach to the Scots works fine. I've just realized that I'm probably a bit inconsistent with doing rolling r:s. I've been doing a Scottish pronunciation for Brechin and other place names (with the Scottish ch and the rolling r), and I found a Scottish pronunciation on forvo.com to check that I'm doing it right.

But I suppose Archie might also have a rolling r, when pronounced in a Scottish way? But I'm not doing that; I'm pronouncing it the English way. Can't find a Scottish pronunciation of it to be sure. In any case I'm too far into the recording to change my pronunciation of Archie now...

Yes, please post here. Glad to see that you are checking the intros and silence settings. (There are also outros and end silence). However, there is no real need to list all of them in a post each time. Usually a simple PL OK is fine if there is nothing wrong with the file. Of course if something needs correcting, then details need to be provided.
