As one of the first two bishops of the Methodist church in America and one of the most well-known circuit riders during the spread of Methodism, Francis Asbury kept a journal of his travels and activities. His journal begins with his prayerful decision to come to America in 1771 and continues to December of 1815, a few months before his death. In the meantime, we travel with Rev. Asbury across the ocean, over mountains, through rivers, and up and down the whole length of the fledgling United States of America. ( Devorah Allen)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This is a huge undertaking, but if you are committed to the solo, I'd be glad to join you as DPL if you don't have someone else in mind.
Thanks!, but I believe mightyfelix will be DPL and MC.

Ready to go! I have the MW all like I want it.
There are a few issues with the text and I don't know if anything can be done?
Pages 8 and 9 are coming up completely blank.
Page 258 is missing and page 259 did not scan well and is illegible.
There are also here and there a number of black smudges that blot out some words.
Luckily, there are many versions of this text available. Try this one: https://archive.org/details/journalofrevfran03asbu/ It's the same edition, so the page numbers are all the same. No need to re-work them. It seems to be a cleaner scan, though, and it's from the same contributor we got the first two volumes from.

Well, I had the first section all recorded, but listening back to it, I hear a high-pitched beeping noise in the background every few seconds. I'm positive I'm not doing anything differently. The only thing I can think of is I must have run some Windows 10 updates that changed some microphone settings somewhere. I didn't see anything related to this in the help forum and a bit of googling hasn't yet given an answer. But what I recorded is surely not usable.
Oh no! That's so frustrating. And there's nothing you can hear in the physical space around you, I'm assuming? (That would be too easy!) So it has to be some sort of interference?
If I were you, I would upload a portion of that recording to the non-projects folder and post it in the Need Help forum. There are some very tech-savvy folks who hang out over there that could probably help you troubleshoot.
I cleaned up this first section best I could (using Notch Filter in Audacity) and it is uploaded for PL.
Still not sure what's causing my interference. Considering recording just from the built in mic on this laptop; or if not that I can just continue to clean up like I did this time.
PL ok, good work! I'm glad you found a method that works. The sound quality is fine as far as I can tell, so this appears to be working for you, even if it is a bit more time-consuming on your end.
