Thanks for the lecture on the brewer's attempts to keep counties from going dry Andrew :D

Well read.

One error noted:

23:53 The fact that many of these places which are owned and operated by brewers themselves continue in full blast again discredits the statements of their press agents that "the cabaret must go." - you said must go on

Thanks for the instructions for making a candy box look good. The best part for me is the candy.

One error noted Betty

4:55 These can be packed tightly together and are not crushed by the candies above -- some disturbance in the beginning

Many thanks, Daniel, for this continuation of Nicholson's Literary History of the Arabs. It's really wonderful that you are making Nicholson's work available to the listen to through LibriVox! :D

" R. A. Nicholson, was an eminent English orientalist, scholar of both Islamic literature and Islamic mysticism and widely regarded as one of the greatest Rumi (Mevlana or Mawlana) scholars and translators in the English language... He is considered a leading scholar in Islamic literature and Islamic mysticism who exercised a lasting influence on Islamic studies." (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynold_A._Nicholson)

Thanks for the history of pre-Islamic Arabia Daniel

Very well read and PLOK.
Zayd set out for Ḥíra. On learning the object of his mission, Nu‘mán exclaimed with indignation: "What! are not the gazelles of Persia sufficient for your needs?" The comparison of a beautiful woman to a gazelle is a commonplace in Arabian poetry, but the officer accompanying Zayd was ill acquainted with Arabic, and asked the meaning of the word (‘ín or mahá) which Nu‘mán had employed. "Cows," said Zayd. When Parwéz heard from Death of Nu‘mán III. his guardsman that Nu‘mán had said, "Do not the cows of Persia content him?" he could scarcely suppress his rage. Soon afterwards he sent for Nu‘mán, threw him into chains, and caused him to be trampled to pieces by elephants.

Thanks for part 2 Daniel.

Well read.

One minor error noted.

12:25 The Pre-islamic history of the Bedouins is mainly a record of wars, or rather guerillas, in which a great deal of raiding and plundering was accomplished, as a rule without serious bloodshed. You said as a result

Great catch, Craig. I revised it and uploaded the new version: https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/snf077_part2-historyandlegendspaganarabs_nicholson_dwd_128kb.mp3

No change to the duration.
