ah yes, well "graceful" is also part of being beautiful, so maybe in old times it had the same source. Thanks

Thank you, Mark, for the contribution and for pointing out the year of death! I'll have to fill in for Sonia on this one.chulsky wrote: ↑August 20th, 2020, 7:48 amHello there, here is a Russian short story. Борис Зайцев - «Гость» (Visitor, by Boris Zaytsev), published in 1908. Interesting style! Just two small issues:chulsky wrote: ↑August 20th, 2020, 7:48 amHello there, here is a Russian short story. Борис Зайцев - «Гость» (Visitor, by Boris Zaytsev), published in 1908. Old, but applicable for today.

1) Since you've used the standard disclaimer at the start, you don't need another disclaimer at end. We use it only in the short disclaimer.
2) Sonia or Todd, Mark added a dedication at the end. I wanted to double-check there's no LV rule against that.
Thanks!
Michael
Short dedications have been allowed at times. What is this one? (I assumed the dedication was in Russian so I did not just listen for myself.)Kazbek wrote: ↑August 21st, 2020, 6:10 pmInteresting style! Thanks, Todd
To US police, both in Russian and English. It's loosely connected with the plot.

Oh, it's 19:47. I thought it's not important for spot-PL.

Also, I translated the title as "Visitor", but it was changed to "Gost'" -- why is that? For those who cannot read «Гость», "Gost'" is not going to be of much help... What am I missing?

Thank you!
It's used as an extra check that the version is the intended one. I actually started a thread about it once:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=80567
In this case, since I was both BC and PL, and the change in length was fairly predictable, I could have gotten it myself, but I went with the hobgoblin of little minds.

We're putting transliterations rather than translations there. I could tell you that it's similar to library cataloging practice, and a person who doesn't know enough Russian to understand the title probably won't be interested in the recording... but the bottom line is, I don't make rules around here, I just enforce them. Also, I translated the title as "Visitor", but it was changed to "Gost'" -- why is that? The section is PL OK. Thanks again!
