Chapter 10 PL notes.
Hi sahildalal123, I listened to your file for section 10 and really like your voice. But you should know that when uploading files they should be in a completely finished format, no errors or repeats or bumps as far as possible. Unfortunately, while your reading itself is fine, you left a lot of things that need to be fixed before uploading. So, please don't get discouraged, we all went through this learning process of editing and it takes time.

PLease open your file (the one you uploaded) and listen to it, then fix these problems. When you have it finished, export it as an MP3 using the exact same file name as before:
at 1:15 repeat "whole"
at 1:27 stumble on scarcely
1:50 set/ setting stumble
2:20 repeat "we should"
4:04 repeat "shopping"
then clear sailing until
10:03 repeat "apologized"
10:36 repeat "far distant"
10:46 stumble: "they would be" - then "they would quite do"
10:54 repeat "all of"

If you are using Audacity, here is a little video showing how to remove bits and replacing them
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLdJsoGQc9c
and a video on basic editing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9NuSuWYaWg&feature=youtu.be

Can you do that for us? We really really want your voice on a lot of recordings so hang in there and ask if anything is confusing.

I will give you an example here of how I would handle it.

Hi Jhaney, Thank you for listening to chapter 3. But that file has already been checked out and has "PL OK" in the far right column. If you are new to LibriVox, please check out this FAQ viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17680

Some of the things you listen for are:
Does the intro match the one specified in the first post of the project thread (below the Magic Window)?
Are there any long silences or pauses that ought to be edited out? If so, note the time.
Are there any stumbles or repeats that ought to be edited out? If so, note the words and the time.
Is there excessive background noise, a constant hiss or buzz that detracts from the reading?
Did you need to turn your volume up unusually high to listen to the recording? (Or did you find the recording too loud?)
Does the ending match the one specified in the first post of the project thread?
Are there 5 seconds of silence at the end of the file?

Please let me know if you have any questions. It's not difficult but can be confusing. Welcome again!! :D

If you wish to do some more listening, pick out any section with "Ready for PL" in the far right hand column, download the file and have fun.

Thank you. However i looked at 25 and it is in stereo; both of them need to be in mono. Here is a video on doing that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lmx0q7IfLiw&feature=youtu.be. Sorry for the extra work but you will need to change them to mono and upload them again with the same file name. Ask if this is confusing at all.
EDIT: Oh dear I apologize for this but your files (25 and 26), while beautifully read have another problem. They need to be constant 128 kbs and yours are ~114 kbs. this means variable. Here is a video on doing that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l54FyB3wLpA.
I apologize again. Many of our proof listeners are new and did not know how to check these things. Please fix:
1. Make them mono track
2. Make them 128 kbs constant.
then export them with the exact same file name and upload them again. Then just post a reply in this thread that you have done so.

Chapter 13, PL notes: Nicely read and I love your voice but there are two things you need to fix:

1) the volume is too low. Reduce the "Fire" at 9:38 in volume by 5 decibels, then amplify the whole file by 4 decibels.

2) Your bit rate is 155 kbs, it needs to be 128 constant. Here is a video on how to do that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l54FyB3wLpA

Please make these changes, then export it again as an mp3 with the exact same file name and upload it to LibriVox. Then post a reply in this thread that you have done so. I will then check it our.

NOTE: If you don't know how to make these fixes, let me know and I will fix it for you or give more instructions. Hang in there!!!!

Chapter 21 PL Notes: Well read indeed but there is a lot of background noise you should remove then export it again. To do this, use the Noise Reduction effect. here is a video of how to do it https://youtu.be/rvhqw7zBmEo I would use -20 decibels as the amount; I tried it and that works best. In the future, turn off all machines near your microphone if possible; somethign is making a lot of hum/rumble and it is distracting.
Anyway, please remove the noise, export as an mp3 again with the exact same file name and upload it again to LV, then just post a note in this thread saying you have done that. I will check it out ASAP. Thanks!
