These four presented challenges because of the truncations and blanks. I did my best to figure out the meanings. And I expect some corrections. So these involve, I think, some shots in the dark, so to speak. I await your help. Jim

I will get to these soon, however, it is better if you wait to be 'awarded' a claim before recording. As luck would have it there has been a lot of behind the scenes work going on after I said the sections were available. After much discussion, it has been decided to let the original recordings of 12 and 14 stand. I will be reinserting them shortly, and with section 13 the original soloist in this project recorded it but it didn't get into the MW, so I will be putting it in. So, after all that, only Section 15 of the ones you recorded is needed. I am so sorry, but that is why we 'claim' and then are 'assigned' Sections.neecheelok70 wrote: ↑September 14th, 2021, 11:27 am Here is 13:

P.S. As to Sections 12, 13, and 14, one option is to submit them to the Non-Fiction Collection. All you would have to do is to change the intro and outro a little. This is the current one: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=88438

Section 36 done - Nervous as this is the first shot at a legit recording and also having to use the word inculcate which is a favorite, but not when a good chunk of a sentence is on the line!

Your reading of the text was excellent. It really sounds like this in not the first time you have done this sort of stuff. You will be a great addition to Librivox.
There are a couple of technical things that you could look at. At the beginning of your reading (I am assuming you are using Audacity) you can see that there is some noise there plus a little at the ending. Using Checker (https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker) that noise and background noise shows up. Using Checker and looking at the results there, you will see that the 'background' noise is a little over 39. Forty is the 'limit' for LV with the goal of 25-35. I don't know if you are familiar with or have used the "Noise Reduction" part of Audacity. If not here is a great little video about how to use it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwppSFAuGr8 The one thing I would add in our cases is to look at your recording and pick the noisiest section to use as the 'Noise Profile' then run it through as shown in the video. The check it again in Checker. I find that occasionally I will need to "Noise Reduce" the recording again. In that case I go to non-speaking sections of the recording and see if I can hear anything through the headphones, then I use that as the profile.
One other thing, you have about eight seconds of silence at the end, could you reduce it to five seconds?
Get those little things straightened out and you will be ready to launch into the wonderful world of Librivox .

P.S. Inculcate came 'rolling off the tongue'.

First, I am sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I was out of town until late last night.
Comments on the recording. The 'noise' is still at the very first of the recording and the noise level for the whole recording is still where it was. My first guess would have been that you accidentally uploaded the old recording (that happens more often that you would think), but the time at the end had be shortened to just under six seconds, close enough. There may have been a slight error in the way you used Noise Reduction. 'Select' the first half second of the recording, click on "Effect" at the top of the Audacity screen, select Noise Reduction, then click on Get Noise Profile. Then either enter Control + A, or click on the "Select" button at the lower left hand corner of the display of the recording to select the entire recording, then again click on Effect, choose Noise Reduction and then click on OK at the bottom. That should get rid of you noise at the beginning and lower your 'background noise level'. Good luck. I hope this doesn't sound condescending, but there is a lot to learn and just one little slip can make it so we don't get the results we are looking for.

First time doing all this so no offense taken! I ran through the noise effect tool with the first half second selected as the noise profile.
Hopefully this will work now!

Now get another project and add your great work to it.
We are now 98% done with this project. Only two more sections to go.
