I got about halfway into it and realized that in addition to Laura and Mr. De Courcy, there's also Mrs. Decourcy, and of course Lady Pelham. Being male, and not very good with British accents (I can meagerly muster one male accent and one female accent, maybe two...), when 3 of four voices are female, it's probably beyond my abilities to give voice to that many characters.

I got about halfway into it and realized that in addition to Laura and Mr. De Courcy, there's also Mrs. Decourcy, and of course Lady Pelham. There are many styles of storytelling. One is pretending the story is sort of a play, with different voices for each character. Our Dramatic Readings are the extreme of this, actually using different readers for each character - and of course a narrator voice for all the stuff in between the character lines.
Another style is just having the narrator personally telling the listener the entire story in the narrator's voice, including telling the listener what each of the characters say but speaking still in the narrator's voice. This establishes a very personal one-to-one relationship between narrator and listener. Of course this works best (perhaps) when the story is written in the first person, but it works well for stories written other ways as well.
And of course there are other ways in between.
So I would not worry about all the different voices if you do not want to/think you can not.
Thanks, Todd
