Hi both of you:

I believe I have made all the corrections suggested, and re-compressed the file to level out the differences.

All else is the same.

Thank you both for all the work.

Thanks for the nice corrections Dale

I think listeners will enjoy listening to your reading.

Two errors remain.

23:17 by one of which the blacks of this country were made citizens of the United States -- repetition

30:06 through which jurors of the two races could confer as to their verdict without coming into personal contact with each other. You said could defer

Would the Gettysburg Address be applicable? If so,I'd like to do that, please.

Hi Bookworm360, Welcome to the Short Nonfiction Collection! :) Yes, Lincoln's Gettysburg Address would be fine to read for the SNF. There is an easily accessible PD copy of it at Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/0/4/4-h/4-h.htm

Hi Craig and Sue

Here it is. As far as I know, assuming that there has not been some giant ******, the correct version of Harlan's dissent.

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/snf076_plessyvferguson_harlan_dg_128kb.mp3

Craig, you have done a yeoman's job. And Sue, your encouragement got me through this. Thank you both.

There was a time, and it does not seem so long ago, when I could pick up a 20 page script and read it into a microphone, with two errors or less. Oh, well. Time passes.

Thanks
Dale

Thanks Daniel for the rousing speech by Demosthenes for the establishment of a regular army and outposts.
If you hear that Philip is in the Chersonese, you resolve to make an expedition there; if he is at Thermopylae, you send one there; and wherever else he may be, you run up and down in his steps. It is he that leads your forces. You have never of yourselves come to any salutary decision in regard to the war. No single event do you ever discern before it occurs—before you have heard that something has happened or is happening. Perhaps there was room for this backwardness until now; but now we are at the very crisis, and such an attitude is possible no longer.
A few minor errors noted.

6:12 What? Do you want to go round asking one another, 'Is there any news?' you said good news

9:43 Such a possibility, even if you are unlikely to make it a reality, you said likely

13:26 But even since your mercenary forces have gone to war alone, it is your friends and allies that they conquer, while your enemies have grown more powerful than they should be. You said ever since

Thanks for this selection, Daniel! :) and for the info on the translator; we'll add Picard-Cambridge's name to the LibriVox catalog.

Thanks Craig -

I made those corrections and uploaded the recording. This changed the time by 1 second, so it's now 30:01. Here's the link: https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/snf076_firstphilippic_demosthenes_dwd_128kb.mp3

Hi Bookworm360, Thanks for contributing this recording of the Gettysburg Address to Volume 076! :) Your recording is well read, clear, and easy to follow! :) The only suggestion I have is to check the volume; it's a bit high. I ran your recording through the easy-to-use and useful LibriVox Checker app, and Checker said your volume was 93.8. Here is a link to Checker: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

The dedicated proof listener (DPL) for the Short Nonfiction Collection, Soupy (Craig) will proof listen your recording next.
