Thank you for coaching me along on this, Sonia! I'm enjoying reading stage directions enough that I think I may sign up to do it again sometime.

this may be your first time for a drama, but you are very very good at it, Jessica. You can bring in the needed emotions and insistence into your voice, just what is needed for this scene. Love it very much, thank you. Already looking forward to the next act.JessicaHendra wrote: ↑July 17th, 2020, 9:32 pmHi Todd- here is the link to Cleone / Act II Scene I, 1: 35
First time reading a play so happy to redo if it is not correct.
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/andromache-cleone-act2.mp3
Only one correction to be made:
> for the voice credit, please use the full description as written in the MW: "Cleone, Friend of Hermione, read by Jessica Hendra" - you can cut out "Andromache" in the beginning, as it's not part of your voice credit. You also don't need to say the act and scene numbers, as they will be done by the narrator
> careful with the volume as well, here you only reach 84.4 dB, amplifying with 4 dB would bring it closer to the desired average of 89. But in drama this is not so critical as the editor will adjust volumes later on anyway in the editing phase.
> well since you reupload anyway, you can also change the filename to the correct format, but as Todd said, this is not so important in the drama roles. Just to get used to it for other projects

Thanks so much for the feedback, Sonia! I will fix the issues with the file I sent and implement your notes in the next scenes.
Thanks again and onward!

No need to reupload anything again, but I need to make a note for Todd concerning your volume, which is a lot under our accepted limits. (even under 80 dB) I really had to crank it up a notch to hear you well.
Did you try to amplify Act 2 like I asked you ? Because instead of 4 dB louder now it's even 3 dB less So I am wondering what you did wrong. To practice, here is the step-by-step for amplification in Audacity:
> highlight your recording
> go to Effect
> go to Amplify
> input 4 in the first upper box (called: amplification dB). Do not change anything in the lower box !
> press ok
Maybe this is not what you did ?
In any case, Todd will amplify in the final editing phase, so no need to reupload this time. Thank you

Hi Sonia, I am so sorry about the amplification! I recorded at 89 but maybe I reduced the amplification by mistake when I used the Noise Reduction effect?

ah you have another recording program then I suppose ? Because I wouldn't know how to "record at 89" in Audacity. But no, simply with noise cleaning it wouldn't decrease the volume that much, not from 89 to 77 dB. I suspect your "89" is not the same as our 89 dB.JessicaHendra wrote: ↑July 20th, 2020, 6:26 am Hi Sonia, I am so sorry about the amplification! Do you have the Checker program ? It tells you the volume then you can easily go back and amplify if you need. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker I check all my recordings with it before I upload it's quite helpful

Hi Todd- here are Cleone acts 4 and 5. Sonia gave me some instructions to amplify the volume and I ran these both through the Checker so I hope there are no issues. Thank you, and Sonia, for all the guidance!

Act 4 is 1:10
Act 5 is 1 :39

yep, now you are in the perfect average (about 89-90 dB) With Checker you cannot fail really.JessicaHendra wrote: ↑July 21st, 2020, 5:30 pmSonia gave me some instructions to amplify the volume and I ran these both through the Checker so I hope there are no issues.
Act 4 is already PL ok but I have a small textual edit to note in Act 5:
> at 0:27: (p. 177) "incapable alike of love and hate" – you say "inescapable"
the rest is perfect. I notice that Cleone is really egging on Hermione (not that she needed much egging on to release the catastophe ). Well characterized. Thank you
