Down In Water Street by Samuel Hadley (1842 - 1906).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/down-in-water-street-by-samuel-hopkins-hadley/
Written by the Superintendent of the Jerry McAuley Water Street Mission, "Down in Water Street" is intended to share some of the experiences the writer had during his sixteen years of service to the Mission. Hadley's intent was to show "how some success has been achieved, and also mention some of our defeats; for we found long years ago that we often learn more in defeat than in victory." ( Kristin Hand with a quote from the Preface)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/downinwaterstree00hadl
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Alright, you should be ready to go. I do have a question regarding genres. We try to limit the number of genres for one work, generally to no more than two. And I have to admit, I don't understand, from skimming this work, how it can be said to be in the social sciences category. Would it be alright to just use the other two?

I don't think I meant to include social sciences. Sometimes I have issues clicking the right things on the list in the generator - it's super touchy for me most days.

Remove away!

Ah, that makes more sense. It can be touchy for many of us. Drop down menus, especially. Let me know if you need any more help in getting set up!

You're in!

Are we all ready for Readers Wanted?

EDIT: In my head, I was thinking "Or do you want to hang out here for a day or two to attract some readers?" Then I remembered that this is a solo! I'll just take us to Going Solo, shall I?
