Yes, definitely! It's nice to have the diversity of different kinds of horror in the collection

Hello!
Even though it's been done for Librivox in the past, here's one of my favourite Lovecraft stories:
The Terrible Old Man
by H.P. Lovecraft
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor040_terribleoldman_lovecraft_ag_128kb.mp3
Length: 8:48
Text Source: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Terrible_Old_Man *
This is my first (but certainly not last) submission for the Ghost & Horror Story Collection. Always happy to edit if need be
* - I'm still fairly new to this...but...I was advised on one submission to avoid Wikisource, but the last time I submitted a Lovecraft story the link I provided was corrected with a Wikisource link. Figured I'd err on that side for now as I didn't have any luck tracking this one down on Gutenberg.

Welcome to the Ghost and Horror Collection, Andrew!
Thank you for your recording! It is PL OK!
We do try to avoid wikisource, but it may be the lesser of two evils sometimes.. The good thing about this particular wikisource page is that it includes the publication information. So we'll use this in lieu of the original scan of The Tryout.

Thank you, Dale! Both stories PL OK and in the Magic Window!
The Dead Woman’s Photograph is the same story as one we catalogued with the previous collection, though with a different title and author. Holland here is the one who edited and compiled the collection of ghost stories, so I was in a dilemma which author to use, but I put in Holland for this text source in the end.
The story in question is "Story of an Obstinate Corpse", by Elia Wilkinson Peattie in Collection 039 and here's the e-text https://www.gutenberg.org/files/1876/1876-h/1876-h.htm#link2H_4_0005
What a coincidence, right?

Thought this one would make a nice companion piece for The Terrible Old Man - here's yet another awful sea-captain!
The Parrot
By Guy de Maupassant

Let me know if anything needs an edit! My French pronunciation isn't the best, but I think I managed the handful of names / places...

Thank you, Shreya! No delay really, since there is no deadline and there's always a collection open to receive contributions!shreyasethi wrote: ↑July 12th, 2020, 12:23 pm Hi,

Your narration is wonderful, I had goosebumps at the end of the story!
I wonder if you uploaded an unedited version by mistake. Here are my PL notes, missed repetitions (you can begin editing from the last one, working your way to the first, so that the time-stamps remain the same; otherwise, when you delete the repetition, the time stamps will be off by that many seconds, and so on)
2:28 and 2:32 a repetition of "he had shown while the train went by"
at 12:30 a slight stumple-repeat "he rejoined, in the low voi-- in the low voice"
at 14:10 repeat "Admit those were the very words."
27:26 a stumble-repeat "putting his dark hair"
30:29 repeat "we could hear of-- we could hear of in those parts"
31:48 repeat "to whom he seemed"
31:56 repeat "Against its shaft"
32:04 stumble-repeat "and tar-- and tarpaulin"
33:03 repeat "turning from one to another"
33:19 repeat "It was just at broad day"
If that was indeed an unedited file you uploaded by mistake, go ahead and upload your edited version, and I will check that, too Thank you!
Thank you, Andrew! Your French pronunciation sounds quite natural to me, a non French speakerOooThatsNifty wrote: ↑July 13th, 2020, 2:42 pm Thought this one would make a nice companion piece for The Terrible Old Man - here's yet another awful sea-captain!

Just one edit needed, at around 6:10, after you say "2", there's a sentence missing "One night, when her husband was at sea, she was suddenly awakened by the wild roaring of the wind"

Well, I feel sorry for him ...
Just one stumble-repeat to fix around 06:32 "that imperturbable face"

Are humorous ghost stories appropriate for this collection, or are they better placed in the short story collection?
