Both "Cock-a-doodle-do"s are extremely loud compared to the rest of the chapter - painfully so. They're also clipping - you drove the levels to the digital limits and beyond. It would be better if you replaced those rooster crows with a couple that weren't so loud.

Also, the file name should be
sharpeyesthesilverfox_06_barnum_128kb.mp3
not
sharpeyesthesilverfox_6_barnum_128kb.mp3

I like your Don the friendly dog voice.
Okay so I re-recorded some much quieter rooster audio that should definitely be an improvement and fixed the file naming.
Also thanks for the feedback on voices.

The rooster is excellent, but you cut off the beginning of the recording: "Chapter 6 of Sharp Eyes, the Silver Fox" (and the 1/2 second of silence) isn't there. Please put that back in and upload again, then you'll be golden.

Strange, not sure how that happened. Couldn't revert back to old audio so I recorded a new line and amplified it to the estimated original volume

Chapter 6 is now PL OK. You got a nice match in volume and sound quality with your replacement first line. Thanks for the rework.

I found some flaws in the recording. The important news is they all should be fixable.
Audio levels are 2.9 dB above the LibriVox maximum. Lowering the volume of the entire chapter by 5 dB should put you very close to the center of the allowable range.

Clipping occurs at many places in the recording. I think you can get away with simply lowering the audio levels, as the clipping doesn't sound too horrible. Audacity can be set to show where your recording is clipping in the track panel. In my version of Audacity this is in the View menu => Show Clipping (On/Off) - when it's on spots where clipping occur are marked in hard-to-miss red.

There is no silence at the beginning of the recording. Also, I believe about half of the initial word "Chapter" is cut off. There should be about 1/2 second before the first word. Hint: you could borrow a bit of silence and the word "Chapter" from the second time you read it just before the title.

There is a loud sound just at the end of the recording. Since there is almost 8 seconds after "End of Chapter 7." you could trim that closing silence down to 5 seconds and get rid of that final blast of sound.

Also a couple notes for you in future recordings - neither of these are show stoppers but are nice to avoid.

At 3:17 there is a puff of breath into the microphone on the P in 'chicken coup'. Placing the mic so it isn't directly in front of your mouth can avoid this.

From about 5:40 to 6:35 there is quite a bit of rumble in your recording. Sometimes this sort of sound comes from a refrigerator or something in your household. It may be possible to change where (or when) you record to avoid external noisemakers.

I'm marking the chapter See PL notes - once you've re-upload after lowering the overall volume and adjusting the beginning and end of the recording it should be OK.

The volume is still too high - the whole chapter should be lowered 4.5 to 5 dB. You added 1.5 seconds of opening silence to the start - it should be close to half a second but no more than 1 second. The closing silence is perfect. Once more and you'll have it.
