poet 李白 Li Bai, Li is his last name and Bai is his first name. title 蜀道难 shu dao nan,just in case the traditional form is needed, here it is: 蜀道難 for the title, the name of the poet is unchanged. Glad to be PLing Li Bai's work here! I share a similar background with Guomin and hope that makes me qualified.

Regarding the technical aspect, the volume is within range, and the length of silence is good. No background noises or anything. Good job!

One minor issue (that you can dismiss if you feel that it's a matter of accent/preference):
2:00 - 豺 is mispronounced as "cai" whereas it should be "chai"

One more thing: Liber read the introduction of section 2 in Italian; does it mean that Guomin's supposed to do his in Mandarin (or is it at his discretion)?

P.S. Fun fact:The part "в гради студој и мисли темни" is a reference to the homesickness he feels while writing the song and both to the TB he got during his stay in Moscow.

it sounds like an important verse in the poem. Do you think there was an error in the original newspaper article ? Of course we cannot be sure. Maybe he did add this line later. So to be on the safe side, unfortunately we need to leave it the way it is in our text source. Such a pity we cannot find a PD source with this sentence in.

In any case, excellently edited and congratulations for your first official PL ok section. I hope you liked the recording process, you do have a lovely reading voice and I hope to hear more from you soon.

Guomin, please take a look at Yuqing's PL notes above and let us know if you'd like to change this word or leave your recording as is (it's up to you!) If you decide to change it, please don't re-record the entire section (as some readers do the first time they see PL notes). You can just re-record this word (or a few words, if they're easier to replace) in another window, copy that sound wave portion, delete the old version, and paste in the new one in its place (this is how it works in Audacity; if you're using another program, there may be some variations). Don't worry if the edit doesn't sound seamless -- there's no expectation of that on LibriVox!

Thank you for providing this list, Yuqing! Would you mind starting a thread for Chinese readers in the forum Help, Discussion, & Suggestions: Languages other than English? We have threads there for several languages, but not Chinese. The thread can be called something like "Chinese book suggestions" and the subject line could have both Chinese and English in it, so new contributors can see that they write there in either language. Your list of Gutenberg sources could make a great first post. I have a feeling that many Chinese speakers visit our site who would like to contribute in some way, but they don't know where to start. Just an idea...

I don't hear any echo so for me it's fine. Usually we try to avoid excessive artificial enhancing, but in some cases echoing effects can be helpful, for example we use it sometimes in drama when we are voicing a ghost for example, it creates a nice otherwordly effect. I wouldn't overdo it though.

Also careful with your sibillants (especially the very long-drawn 's' at the end of words) Sometimes they hurt my ears. Maybe move a bit away from the microphone, or decrease volume a little bit. No need to change it this time, but I'm mentioning it for further consideration.

As for the text, all is well apart from one small note:

> at 1:10: (p. 86) "nunc tamen interea haec prisco" – I don't hear "haec", but maybe I'm wrong, could you have another listen there please and let me know

Sorry for the late reply, I was having a long sleep.
Yes, Yuqing , in standard Mandarin it's supposed to be chai. I didn't know that until I searched it up five minutes ago, I have always been pronouncing that word wrong, so I didn't realize that mistake at all. Because I am speaking chengdu dialect at home, my 平翘舌 have been messed up a little. Also, thank you, Michael, for the kind advice, I was going to ask how to not re-record the whole thing

I will certainly look into the suggestions and try start one solo, I would love to do something like 出师表, I just love classical literature.

Here's something short, yet well-known in Poland, i.e one of the Sonnets from Crimea (Sonety Krymskie), written by a famous poet, Adam Mickiewicz, as he was traversing Crimea. Yes, the "c" in "haec" is inaudible: that was not an intentional effect, it just happened. I think I fixed it.

Also, as I see it, the sibilants may here have a number of relevant purposes; however, if they hurt to much, maybe it's better to reduce their volume or fade them out just a little bit. I've tried to do just this in the new file. Can you please check if the effect is acceptable, and if you think that in the next recordings I should correct more (or maybe less)?

While my control on voice, breathing, volume, etc., is far from the levels that I wish to achieve, the pronunciation and scansion here are almost perfect, although some annoying imperfections still persist. As I see it, some of the most obvious are:

• the syllable "rĭ" in the first īnfĕrĭās should have been pronounced just a bit clearer;

• in ādlŏquĕrēr, the ā should have been much longer, and the ŏ much shorter;

• generally, most m's should have been waaaay longer;

• generally, many r's should have been more vibrated;

• the ē in pērpĕtŭūm should (probably) have sounded more like an é than an è.

Also, I am not satisfied with the background noise and some specific noises (caused by a cable?, by fingers on the table?, by the chair?). Occasionally I try the noise remover, but I rarely accept the results as it seems it has more effect on the recorded voice than on the actual noise.

I think there are so many features in Audacity that I still need to learn to use properly
Obviously, there is much to improve Sbagliando si impara (hopefully)
