Greetings -

So, this is the Mark Penfold non-Bible reading voice! Noticeably different. As always, the reading portion was right on point.

Alas, a couple of things need attention.

The recording level needs to be raised a couple of db to be in the acceptable range.

I enjoyed listening to you read the questions between the "readings" but a decision was made early in the project not to read the questions. :hmm:

Boost the recording level and edit out the questions and you will be in PL OK land.

Will do! I had no idea about the questions! I will see what I can do about the volume.

I used Mp3Volumer and raised the volume by 150%. Hopefully it comes out a little louder than before!

Thought I'd go ahead and do a quick volume check.
This is still too low at 85.2 dB We need a minimum of 86 dB but our target is 89 dB.
I would also suggest applying some noise reduction because the background noise level is quite heavy and will be more so as you amplify.

Also, you still need to remove the reading of the questions.
These instructions were in bold, red letters in the reading instructions.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for your contribution.

I still don’t know how to use Audacity to get rid of the background noise. The volume increase will probably be the easy part. I’ll make sure to remove the questions this time.

Noise Reduction is a two step process.
First, highlight an area of the recording for a Noise Profile. Usually the beginning or ending silence works well
Choose Noise Reduction from the Effect menu, and click on Get Noise Profile.
Then, highlight the entire file.
Choose Noise Reduction from the Effect menu again and click on OK (The presets are usually adequate)
Okay, depending on how you count, that may be more than two steps.

I routinely do this on all of my recordings.
