I need to start hunting up a good selection for this! I wonder if I can find something PD about quinceañeras? In English? :hmm: How old is that tradition, even? Well, anyway, I will find something!

annise wrote: June 13th, 2020, 7:03 pm Although they do say the book is poems of Crowe they give the author as Crow - which doesn't help much, I still couldn't find anything that wasn't on the Haithi page- and I'm not permitted to read the scan so maybe you should check Kevin in case Tricia can't either. He was at Oxford when he wrote it but he seems to have survived the war

Anne
Thank you. Crow, not Crowe! That might help.

I'll keep googling.
With Anne's help I found that our author is Gerald H. Crow, but found very little else. Where his poetry is published, there seems to be no biographical information at all. He did write biographies later in his life, with one book on William Morris published in 1934 (or thereabouts.) Beyond that, it's something of a mystery!

It is a story from the book "Bunch Grass: A Chronicle of Life on a Cattle Ranch") (published 1913)
The Gutenberg link to the book is here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10372
