Also, I am not sure if you are familiar with the E.L. Turner that "JK" mentions seeing in his journey in the final chapters. He referred to a woman who was photographing birds. I went off to Google and found out that it was Emma Louisa Turner, who was another Broads naturalist type and has some books of her own, so maybe when you are finished with AHP you might want to check her out.
I've had a quick scan through the book and it looks really interesting. If you wanted to take it on as a project then I would be more than happy to help out by offering to be the DPL.
One of the sketches from inside the book might make a good cover....or there are some fantastic old postcards in Internet Archive -- this is a search on "Norfolk Broads"

Jo - I think that the book should have been catalogued as by John Knowlittle rather than Arthur Henry Patterson. The book was originally produced with John Knowlittle shown as the author.
In the same way that say, the author of Alice in Wonderland is always shown as Lewis Carroll rather than Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.
The names of Arthur Henry Patterson / John Knowlittle are certainly well known in Norfolk and the Broads area and I feel that it would be better to use the pen name that AHP chose to use for publishing the book.
We use the author's actual name in the catalog unless he/she is best or only known by a pseudonym like Lewis Carroll or Mark Twain, for example, in which case that is the main author name and the real name is entered as the "pseudonym." There is one entry for each author in the database and therefore one catalog page per author. We can add as many pseudonyms as needed to each author entry. When we moved from our old system to the new workflow, we cleaned up thousands of duplicate author entries.
This book and all of Patterson's work will be returned by a catalog search for either Patterson or Knowlittle. I hope this makes sense to you. Similarly, if you search for John Knowlittle in WorldCat, you will get the entry for Arthur H. Patterson.
