[COMPLETE] Love Stories Volume 3-ag
Are you sure? I thought it was 70 years from death of writer and D.H. Lawrence passed away in 1930...
I did some checking before so figured it was OK -

Is there some Librivox guideline I've missed? I was wondering why no one had jumped on recording this delectable story before
thanks,
Linda

I'm going to let Amy, our MC, address this question.Sonrisaj wrote: ↑July 10th, 2020, 12:56 pm Are you sure? I thought it was 70 years from death of writer and D.H. Lawrence passed away in 1930...

Thanks, sounds good.
Perhaps it's PD down under but not here?
There's another DH Lawrence short story from 1923 about love and loss, too...

In the mind, or consciousness of the Earth this flower first lay latent as a dream. Perhaps, in her consciousness, it nested as that which in us corresponds to a little thought.--A.Blackwood
I'd feel more comfortable if an MC called this one ok or not. The rules after 1924 are unclear to me. Sorry.alg1001 wrote: ↑July 10th, 2020, 7:43 pm Here is Librivox's policy on copyright.

No worries! Looks like the rule of thumb is before 1924 is good to go - I'll keep looking and thanks -

Slight correction. 1924 is also clearly PD. And next January 1st it will advance to 1925, and so on. Still, I have heard that up to 85% of the copyrights on books prior to 1955 were not renewed, so many more books should be available, but Librivox relies on Gutenberg to assess this.

Thank you - it would be cool to record more modern works, too!

I know we don't need to proclaim, but here's a story, A Fragment of Stained Glass, by DH Lawrence, from 1914, that I'd like to record,
http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks03/0301501h.html#C04
Also, http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks02/0200821h.html, Ladybird, a DH Lawrence novella, from 1923.
Might that work? Or should I just pick one - in which case, the novella, please.
I am finishing another project right now, and looking forward to this!
Thank you,
Linda

Ladybird is about 26,000 words, about 3 hours of recording. That is too long for a short story, but would make a good solo book project. The first story, about 4,000 words, is fine for this project so long as it fits the Love Stories theme, or it could go in the generic Short Stories project if it doesn't fit here.Sonrisaj wrote: ↑July 11th, 2020, 6:59 am I know we don't need to proclaim, but here's a story, A Fragment of Stained Glass, by DH Lawrence, from 1914, that I'd like to record,

PS the story is 30 mins, the novella about an hour...

An hour qualifies as a short story. Give it a shot.

Okay, here we go again. Gutenberg Australia is no good either.
Please stick with Project Gutenberg: This one--- http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
Please put this source in the meta data, Michele.

Thanks Amy. Everything is in the MW now with proper text links.
Fragment is about 4000 words. I look forward to listening!
