Claude Lightfoot, or How the Problem Was Solved by Francis Finn (1858 - 1928).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/claude-lightfoot-by-francis-j-finn/
Most of the boys in the Catholic school called Milwaukee College are engrossed with baseball and keeping up with their studies. When twelve year old Claude Lightfoot is transferred into the school, he has a rocky time of it. While Claude excels in baseball and other playground activities, he also has a knack of annoying the other boys, particularly one who is a mean bully. And though Claude is mentally bright, his hyperactive classroom behavior is a trial to his teacher. The problem that must be solved is whether Claude can settle down to become a responsible young man capable of self control. Along the way he must cope with a series of trials and obstacles, especially as he tries to achieve his great goal: to be worthy to make his first Holy Communion.

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Ok, I have your MW up and running.

One more thing; we try to limit the number of genres for a project. Preferably, there should be no more than two. Can you whittle those down a bit, and just choose the two that you think are the best fit? You can have as many keywords as you want.

Thank you. I'd appreciate anyone who is interested and willing to listen.

I had no idea about genres and key words. How do I make changes?

Great! I've added a tilde (~) to the subject line to let people know you're looking for a DPL.

You can either edit the list in your first post, above, or you can just tell me and I'll take care of it.

Okay. I'll try to fix those genres and keywords.

Hello.

I just recorded Chapter 1 and added it to the Magic Window. I am not sure if the MW is ready though. Is it okay for me to go ahead and start adding chapters? Also, I couldn't add my name as the reader [carolpelster].

PS
It seems that Claude may have had ADHD, though they didn't label it as such back in the 1890's. He was just considered a wriggly lively healthy boy.

HI Carol,

Yes, it is perfectly fine for you to add chapters. I went ahead and added your name for you. Sometime the drop down doesn't like to behave. :-)

Chapter 1 is PL OK! I would suggest making the file name a bit shorter ~ just claudelightfoot should do! (And save you some typing! :D ) I took the liberty of shortening it in the first post.

Hi, Carol. I'm sorry that the drop down was misbehaving for you. I'm also sorry that I forgot to assign you as the reader for all of those. Please do go ahead and fill out the titles of the rest of the chapters, how you want them. I'm sorry I wasn't more explicit with that.
