The Marie Antoinette Romances, Vol 2: The Mesmerist's Victim by Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870). Translated by Henry L. Williams (1842 - )

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-marie-antoinette-romances-vol-2-the-mesmerists-victim-by-alexandre-dumas/
This 2nd volume of the Marie Antoinette Romances continues the intrigues of "Balsamo, The Magician" and adds to them the schemes of philosophers and the stirrings of revolution. Balsamo (based on the real Count Alessandro di Cagliostro) carries on his occult tactics to weaponize the state secrets that he gained in the previous volume. A tragic romance and illness takes root in the court of King Louis XV, convincing one of the leading thinkers of the era, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, that soon “the breath of heaven will blast an age and a monarchy.” (jvanstan)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hey Patty Marie - Alrighty, I've got almost all the chapters ready :9:

This is a very strange series... :hmm: But, I'm hoping to finish this volume and start the next one by the middle of next week.

Yes, strange and not quite up to the quality of the D'Artagnan novels, but interesting and worthwhile. Sections 11 through 20 are PL OK.

Hi Patty Marie - Haven't heard from you for a little while and figured I check in! Hope you are doing well. If so, could you please share the information about the repetition in Section 35?

All the very best wishes,
John
