There and Back by George MacDonald (1824 - 1905).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/there-and-back-by-george-macdonald/
An unscrupulous baronet is left a widower and could care less what happens to his ugly newborn heir. But when an icy stepmother moves in and the child is stolen away by his loving nurse, what can unfold but a riveting account of the years of mystery, drama, love and lessons for which MacDonald's writings are known. (Sequel to "Thomas Wingfold, Curate" and "Paul Faber, Surgeon") ( HannahMary)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/8879
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

That would be great! Thanks, Devorah!

MW is ready now.

I've been toying with the idea of being DPL to this project as well since I've only read the abridged/edited version plus part of this original. Do you mind moving us over to Readers Wanted even though I'll leave the tilde in place for a bit in case someone is desperate for this big project? :D But otherwise I'll have that covered.

Welcome, Kathy! I will go ahead and reserve section 3 for you since you have begun the "1 Minute Test" process. But please be sure to get that approved before diving into recording a full chapter. It can save you time and frustration later!

Just ask if you have questions. If I don't have the answer, we can find someone on LibriVox who does. :)

Good morning!
I was curious to see if I could read section 14 The Library for this project. This would be my first reading for the site. The name I narrate under is Emma Carpenter.

Thanks!

Welcome to LibriVox, Emma! I see that this is your first post in the forum, so there is one thing you will need to do before beginning to record for any projects. But I will place a preliminary hold on your requested section for two weeks so it should still be waiting for you when you’re all set!

First, we need you to record a “1 Minute Test” for review. As LibriVox explains, “This is NOT an audition, but a way to check to make sure all your technical settings are correct, your volume loud enough, etc. You will find the information for the 1-Minute Test Recording here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test The instructions also tell you how to upload your test and then post in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum so someone can give you feedback on it.”

Once that recording has been approved, you are free to come back here and start recording your section! Just ask if you have any questions.
