I hope it's okay to submit so soon. It turns out that the story I had in mind for collection 86 can't be confirmed as PD BUT I had recorded another story for collection 85 and never got around to editing it in time, so here it is for 87:

"The Conversion of Aunt Sarah" by Archibald Marshall (1866-1934)

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/ss087_conversionofauntsarah_cm_128kb.mp3

27:20

Source: Strand Magazine, v. 27 January 1904, No. 157
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/44113

I think Mr. Marshall is new to Librivox, so here is his Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archibald_Marshall

I kind of stumbled into this story while poking around PG's Strand Magazine collection, and found it delightful. If anyone is a fan of Downton Abbey, it's easy to imagine Maggie Smith and Elizabeth Perkins in these roles, as a prequel 20-some years before the series...looks like Marshall has several more books in PG's collection and lots more over at Internet Archive, which I look forward to exploring!

It's a story called "Aunt Kate and Queen Victoria" by Sir Philip Gibbs and I found it in a book called A Century of Love Stories on Internet Archive. It's in the Digital Library of India collection, which I always am careful with because their stuff isn't always in US public domain. The entry says that the book is copyright 1922 and the date under the name of the editor at the end of the intro is also 1922, but there is no copyright date on the title page or in the front matter of the book other than that, and all external publication info I can find on the book says it was circa 1935 (though it's also uncertain and may be a reprint date, but that's the date given in the editor, Gilbert Frankau's Wikipedia entry. My guess is that it was published in 1922 and maybe reprinted later but I am not certain enough to go for it. I also did my best to hunt down another publication of the story, maybe in a magazine, that would be PD, but no luck as yet. Too bad, it's a fun story.

I wouldn't call this exactly an "adult" story. I am going looking in the authors recommended in the Music Man -- Chaucer, Rabelais, and Balzac. The ladies of the town seemed to think these were nearly pornographic....

Thanks

She used the Russian spelling or Chechov. I think this is an editor's choice.

Thanks
