[SOLO] Captain John Crane, 1800 - 1815 by Thomas Wallace Knox (1835 - 1896).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/captain-john-crane-by-thomas-wallace-knox/
John and David grew up best of friends, outgoing and full of adventure. Living but miles from the sea west of Boston, right on the cusp of manhood at the end of America’s Revolutionary war, the ocean’s siren song beaconed to both. At the peak of adolescence, they struck out on foot in pursuit of their shared dream. Two days to Boston and only one day there found them aboard ship for a whirlwind of adventure beyond their wildest dreams. The next fifteen years shaped a future for the fledgling mariners that seems spun as a flaxen yarn - - - were it not so historically accurate. - - - Tom Hirsch
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/61715
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
  • DPL Preferred

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

G'morning, Larry,

Thanks a million :D Happy to have you aboard again. This looks like it will be an exciting book to read. Now we just wait for an MC to pick it up. In the meantime I'll work on getting the MW ready to populate.

Ah! Wonderful news. Thanks, Tricia, for joining us. I just saw Larry's note also. Thanks for adding him in the setup. We're off and running

Tom

PS I have dear friends who live in Toronto. Sometime you'll have to tell me how close to Whitchurch-Stouffville you are.

Moved to Going Solo.

I've never been to W-S. It's, what, northwest of Toronto? I'm east. :)

Yes, indeed! I was under the definite impression that it was to the northeast of Toronto proper. However - - - now looking at the map it is quite a bit northwest. Oh well . . . .

Okay, we are off to a good start -- PL OK.

So, he is from Pembroke, New Hampshire! That is about 1/2 hour south of our little town.
