N.B.: At about 29:54, I added the word "in", so the phrase reads "...those hours of delight in which they had participated together..."
Even though this English translation (ca. 1824) is in archaic language, it just didn't make sense to me without the "in" added.

N.B. also: In an earlier PM, I mistakenly switched the approximate word counts for Parts I and II.
...The correct word count for Part I is about 4210 words, ending with the sentence:
"Swanhilda then departed, in order to pronounce to her children, a bitter farewell, for they, according to national custom, belonged to the father; and, having bathed them in her tears, and consecrated them with the holy water of maternal love, she quitted her husband's residence, and departed to the home of her father's."
...The correct word count for Part II is about 6380 words, beginning with the sentence:
"Thus was the kind and benevolent Swanhilda driven an exile from those halls where she had presided with grace;--from halls which were now newly decorated to receive another mistress."

Part II is in progress.

On further cogitation...

I think it would be better to break the rest of the story into Parts II and III:

: Part II would be about 3145 words, beginning with "Thus was the kind and benevolent Swanhilda driven an exile..." and ending with "...he rushed out of the apartment."
: Part III would be about 3235 words, beginning with "All the horrors of a guilty, upbraiding conscience became his companions..." until the end.

Doing this would make it more more manageable, and would also break the story into 3 "acts": (I) Brunhilda coming back to life and Swanhilda leaving; (II) Brunhilda wreaking havoc and Walter finally realizing his folly; and (III) the tragic denouement.

What thinkest thou, O Great and Powerful Rapunzelina?

Dale, I have just one PL note for "Doom of the House of Duryea", there's a repetition around 27:23, "Then unexpectedly, among all of this monumental vestige". And then, if you'd like to add it, there's a phrase missing from the recording, around 41:00, here in bold "The autopsy protocol of Henry Duryea laid death to "undetermined causes," and it was not until the yellow tabloids commenced an investigation into the Duryea family history that the incredible and fantastic explanations were offered to the public. Obviously such talk was held in popular contempt;"


Harmon, did you use an online text that I could check? The link you provided doesn't match the text. I think there is a phrase missing around 17:28, because it sounds weird, so I checked against http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks06/0605591.txt and there it's "however conclusive in a court of justice, counts for nothing."
Then around 18:24, seems to be missing: "You have my history." "It is a very sad one," I murmured, scarcely knowing what to answer. "It is a very common one," he replied."


I enjoyed all stories, very well read! These horror stories create a nice diversion from the horror in our reality at this time...

Thank you, Rapunzelina! I had downloaded a pdf of the story and then lost the link to the source. The cadence sounded stilted in the first missing passage but I read it as it was printed. I have made the corrections and then checked it again for proper loudness.
