shrikerlove wrote: June 6th, 2020, 12:21 pm It's been awhile since I've been on, but I think I might like to try to record for this collection. I'm not 100% that my recording of this will fall in the under 70 minute category since it's approximated at 78 in the shortish story collection. So I don't know if I'll end up needing to save it for another collection after recording. Any thoughts?

Hi Tricia,
If it goes over, it is okay if you split it into two recordings. If it is close, you could speed up the recording a little bit to shorten it as long as it doesn't make your voice sound weird. Everyone reads at a different speed so yours may be shorter than the other. The length requirement is to ensure that the story will fit on a CD because some listeners do listen that way.
Cheers,
Amy

It does look like along one, but give it a try for one file. If not we can do two. It isn't ideal, but we have one with two parts every now and then.

Hi Curtis,
It is great to have your first recording here. I loved the ominous tone for the story.
It is very quiet. Please amplify it. If you let it amplify by the amount Audacity fills in and then use the compressor effect, it should be good.
Please re-upload it and paste the link here after you update it.
Thanks,
-Amy

Used the compressor and gain make-up as suggested to raise the level to 0 dB.

It is best to have your test approved to make sure your tech specs are okay.
You can certainly do a short story, which ever one you like.
It will be nice to have your first recording in this collection.
Have fun with it!

Will do, found this https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

I think that it will be all right, though. I got a microphone afer a few months and recorded voiceovers for a freelance job. I will do the test tomorrow if all goes well. Thank you!
