Greetings -
Some notes on Chapter 15:
I liked the way you sang the little poems. Well done! Also, good use of voices.
Three things that need your attention:
TIME: 01:45 TEXT: "caught hold of it, Puss nearly stumbled." I noticed a longer than normal pause between "it," and "Puss".
TIME: 02:39 TEXT: "My bonnie laddie; Dance to your daddie, my bonnie lamb." Reading has the word "little" after "bonnie" both times.
TIME: 04:31 TEXT: "I won't come back!" he cried. "I won't!" Reading has "said" instead of "cried"
Otherwise, PL OK.

vvocelli, a quick check of the technical side of your recording shows that you need to boost the audio level. It is coming in at 75.4 db when it should be at least 86 db.
I will wait for it to come up in the Magic Window before I listen to it.

Thanks for catching that! I'm fairly new to audio recording. Is there a quick way in Audacity I can check decibels so I can avoid this in the future?lomond wrote: ↑April 7th, 2020, 2:23 pmGreetings -vvocelli wrote: ↑April 7th, 2020, 11:16 am Chapter 7 - 2:56

Greetings -
I use Audacity to listen to recordings, but I run all of the recording files through the Checker to make sure they are technically correct. If you are not familiar with Checker, here is the link:

Checker is a great little program, written specifically for LibriVox. It checks all of the LV specs including volume. Most of us use it for proof listening. Since Audacity doesn't have a feature for measuring actual decibel level (although you can get an idea just be looking at the wave form), I use a handy plugin which does. It is called ReplayGain and you can find it though this link, taken from our Newbie Guide to Recording; https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity
I run this on all of my recordings, and then use the Amplify feature in Audacity to make the adjustment indicated. This is easier than saving the file, using Checker, and then putting it back in Audacity to amplify.
But, better yet, is to make adjustments to your recording set up. You probably need to increase your audio gain. You can use the slide bar next to the microphone icon. Or you may need to be closer to your microphone, or some combination of those two things. So, it will be worth the time to play around with this until you get good settings so your recordings come within the range. Our target is 89 dB with a range of 86-92 dB.
Let us know if you need anymore help on this.

Hi!
Well, I do admire your enthusiasm, but as you might have noticed in your welcome message, we do request that you first complete a one-minute test recording before beginning. This is necessary to check out your recording set up and technical specifications. You can also find information on this in the Newbie Guide to Recording. You will find the link under Point 2 in the head post of this forum thread. I suggest your read through it to get off to a good start. When you have the official "OK" on your test, post back here again and post your request again. Be sure to let us know under what name you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog. In the meantime, I'll save Chapter 17 for you, and if all goes well, you will be welcome to request more sections. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
All the best,
