Rapunzelina, your 3 sections are PL OK. I especially like the last one that names the 12 sports! Thank you.

Nice story, Lynne, and PL OK. My Grandpa Planchon in France was a fly fisherman all his life, and I've always wanted to try it, but never had opportunity.

Hi Michele,
I might draw some criticism for saying this, but it wouldn't be a complete sports collection without fencing!
'Observations on Fencing' by Thomas Griffiths
Text: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.hn5rvu&view=1up&seq=89
Duration: 4.44
MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/observationsonfencing_griffiths_el_128kb.mp3
HathiTrust doesn't have his dates. Um...before 1868 when the book was published?
At the moment I'm not seeing him in the LV database, but I may have overlooked him!

Thanks, Erin. This is PL OK.
Don't know why anyone would criticize, certainly not me. Fencing is a sport --
"an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

An obvious candidate is the zccount of a village cricket match in "England, Their England" by AG Macdonell: he died in 1941, so it's out of copyright here, but the book was published in 1933. Does that rule it out for this collection?

Unless you could find it printed as a short story in a magazine 1924 or earlier, probably not. Let's see what Lynne says.PatrickLondon wrote: ↑April 14th, 2020, 2:16 am An obvious candidate is the zccount of a village cricket match in "England, Their England" by AG Macdonell: he died in 1941, so it's out of copyright here, but the book was published in 1933. Yes, it is ruled out, I'm afraid. In all but rare cases the publication date needs to be 1924 or earlier to make it PD in the U.S.msfry wrote: ↑April 14th, 2020, 7:45 amUnless you could find it printed as a short story in a magazine 1924 or earlier, probably not. BTW, an author who died in 1941 would be acceptable for readers in Europe... it is more than 70 years since death. But the work also has to be PD in the U.S.

Thank you Patrick, Olympic Games is PL OK, except . . . . . please change your file name by removing the underscore between olympic_games, and upload to the lynnet's folder again. Post here and I'll put the correct file in the MW.
