No space cadets appear in this chapter - Tom and Astro are still immobilized and underground, while Roger is at "the hideout" - apparently against his will. Tom and Astro will get thawed out in chapter 15, but we won't hear from Roger for a while longer.

I think I went overboard a bit with the swoosh of pink noise I slid into scene changes - marked in the book by width-of-the-page horizontal lines. I went back just now and lowered the swooshs by 3 dB - see if you think it's OK.

Progress report: I have my recording for Chapter 17. However, my place is starting to record videos to keep us all busy once the snow flies - my computer is rendering an 'exercise along with' video and will likely be grinding away until morning. I should be able to get back to editing my next chapter at that point.
I believe I found another typo in the Gutenberg text - it reads:
"I think we can make visual contact on radar in above five minutes."
(This is at about 6:10 in my recording.) I read it as "in about five minutes" and reported the suspected typo back to Gutenberg.
I also learned an old word: spluttered. It's in the dictionary, so there you go.
And we are nearing the end of the story, so I'm now going for an over the top reading.

Spluttered - I think I learned that one from some of my old comic books.
This one is PL OK, so take is over the top -- or down the tubes, however this thing ends.

I heard back from a volunteer at PG this morning. He pointed me to a scan of the story - https://www.pgdp.org/ols/tools/display.php?page=194.png&id=projectID43f288e13e80e
- it turns out "on radar in above five minutes" is a faithful scan of what was printed. "Above five minutes" could mean 6 or 7 minutes or perhaps 2 hours.
So the OCR error was between my eyes and brain - I autocorrected "above" to "about" when I was reading and didn't even notice until I was editing the chapter. I don't want to go back and fix it at this point. (insert an emoji of someone with fuzzy glasses here)
I stepped back through the scan to the previous chapter and the error I reported there was an PG mistake.
