He's quite persuasive, I'll admit. Had I been alive at the time, he would have looked very politically attractive.

However, with the wisdom of years, we know better. (That's not to say someone as charismatic couldn't sweep a country off its feet again.)

My book club just finished Fascism, A Warning, by Madeline Albright. Mussolini is well described in that as a very persuasive speaker, and so I decided to see what words he actually spoke.
