PL Notes for Section 38:
There are structural flaws that make this uploaded file unusable.

00:00 Too much lead-in silence. should be between 1/2 and 1 second long

Seeing this I went to the end of the file and saw that there is way to much silence at the end of the recording. Should be 5 seconds.

During the standard disclaimer I found
17.5 - 22.0 -- LONG silent gap.

Then I heard that the text is NOT Book 4, chapter 8, Section 38.
I stopped Proof Listening at this point.

I would guess that you didn't read the "First Post" where all the parameters of the audio files are laid out. Please do so and and re-upload your file with the proper text and other structural details.

You have chosen a rather deep section of a deep book as your first Librivox offering. Your voice and recording setup in the minutes near the end of the file are really rather good. Just attend to the details and your efforts will be a great asset to Librivox.

This file is not usable, as-is.

PL Notes for Section 39:

What a difference between this file and the previous!
Great job

I do have a handful of things I noticed:

You omitted all footnotes. You should ask our BC how she wants them handled.

6:19 heard "cawg-nent reasons"
s/b "koh-jent reasons"
This should be fixed.

Because you're new to this game, here are some of my comments about pronunciation variance/errors:
These variant pronunciations are often overlooked, but in this case the listener to this file would be hard-pressed to figure out what word the author meant.
As a counter-example, in just a few words further on, I hear the phrase "erroneous notions" pronounced as "air-un-us notions" instead of "err-own-ee-uhss notions". An average listener would probably figure it out pretty easily. So, I'm not flagging this as an error to be fixed.

10:23 heard "...by all accurate REASONS..."
s/b "...by all accurate REASONERS..."

29:28 word "evanescent"
Heard "ee-van-sent"
s/b "eh-vun-ess-ent"
again, not this a something which should be fixed because a listener would likely not figure out what the original word was.

29:45 Heard "It will then become exceedingly DIFFERENT to trace.."
s/b "It will then become exceedingly DIFFICULT to trace.."

34:38.5 "Erroneous" is again mispronounced, but it is left up to you whether to correct these two pronunciations.

You're on an upward trajectory, Max S.
Hope you enjoy your LV projects.
