I listened to a ton of stuff yesterday. I'm almost all caught up!

This must be the fastest PL turnaround I've ever done! PL OK!ABanner wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 9:58 am https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/beasleyschristmasparty_04_tarkington_128kb.mp3

More becomes clear, now, eh? Love may be in the air. But what about the enraptured narrator?

I suppose it would be rude and presumptuous for me to request Chapter 6 for Thanksgiving.

How flattering! I'll try to get it out tomorrow. Don't know quite how they can squeeze in a party and settle all themes in one chapter. I'm enjoying this story but have been amazed at some of the vocabulary - "didoes" meaning eccentric behavior and "cachinnation" meaning to laugh; I thought they were misprints at first.

I'm doing a reading from about the same time period and the jokes that the young people make are often nonsensical!
I wonder if 'fly your freak flag' will ever become nonsense.

I had to Google 'fly your freak flag'; I was born in 1942 and it was alien to me! But Tarkington's era was 1900 or so, lots different yet. I really enjoy his Penrod books; I can just about visualize the slower and quieter time, kind of like summer as a kid.

Final chapter and fine ending. I had a rainstorm during much of the recording session so I got closer to the pop filter and ended up with plosives and rain noise. Hard to eliminate plosives.

I bet I won't notice any 'It was a dark and stormy night...'

I used to live in a little community where Tarkington summered. I've always been interested in him. And your reading brings him to life.
