Nocturne: In Anjou by Bliss Carman (1861 - 1929) and Richard Hovey (1864 - 1900).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/nocturne-in-anjou-by-bliss-carman/
Richard Hovey collaborated with Canadian poet Bliss Carman on three volumes of "tramp" verse: Songs from Vagabondia (1894), More Songs from Vagabondia (1896), and Last Songs from Vagabondia (1900), the last being published after Hovey's death. Hovey and Carman were members of the "Visionists" social circle along with F. Holland Day and Herbert Copeland, who published the "Vagabondia" series. (Wikipedia) ( Wikipedia)

Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Nocturne: In Anjou by Bliss Carman and Richard Hovey, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
I dreamed of Sappho on a summer night.
Her nightingales were singing in the trees
Beside the castled river; and the wind
Fell like a woman's fingers on my cheek.
And then I slept and dreamed and marked no change;
The night went on with me into my dream.
This only I remember, that I cried:
"O Sappho! ere I leave this paradise,
Sing me one song of those lost books of yours
For which we poets still go sorrowing;
That when I meet my fellows on the earth
I may rejoice them more than many pearls;"
And she, the sweetly smiling, answered me,
As one who dreams, "I have forgotten them."

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: nocturne_carmen_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. nocturne_carmen_klh_128kb.mp3 )

David,
I'm editing mine now. A possible slip-up: in the poem intro, you have it by Richard Hovey alone. Shouldn't Carmen be there, too?
Nocturne: In Anjou by Richard Hovey, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]

Then read the poem:

Well, this looks like fun - good practice, too. I'll put a reading in. :)

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of one collection of many different readings of a single poem?

Thank you Lynette.
The Weekly Poetries offer listeners a 'choice of voice', it is interesting to hear the different interpretations we put to the words. :D

* You have left off the kb in the filename _128kb, this is necessary for the cataloging process. Could you please upload your file again? Thanks.
