Certainly you may! I'll reserve a slot in the MW for you, Gillian!
If you haven't yet located a good link to the song, there's one here:

I'm working on Once in Royal David's City, too, if that's okay.

This is a version of "While Shepherds Watched" sung to a traditional Yorkshire tune usually associated with the song "On Ilkley Moor bar t'hat". This tune was used for this carol in Yorkshire in olden times. Both words and tune are from memory.

These are both PL OK! Somehow your voice just fits the carols you choose, as if made for them. Thanks, Alan!alanmapstone wrote: ↑December 12th, 2019, 8:30 am This is a version of "While Shepherds Watched" sung to a traditional Yorkshire tune usually associated with the song "On Ilkley Moor bar t'hat". I looked up the lyrics to "While Shepherds Watched", and your memory for them was word-perfect. I had never heard the carol sung to that tune before, so curiosity sent me searching for "On Ilkley Moor", and I went down a fascinating rabbit hole reading about the tune. So thanks, also, for that! (Wikipedia mentions that "It is still used for the traditional words "While Shepherds Watched" in some churches including Leeds Parish Church".)

I'm happy to have you in this year's collection, and hoping that you are having fun! Thank you!
By the way, the site you linked to for the source of the carol was blocked by my computer, as it tried to automatically download a file. But this carol is so widely available that I easily found another link to use as the source. Just to let you know, this is the source I'm putting in the metadata: http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/j/o/y/w/joyworld.htm

Here's another from me. Could you PL whenever you get time, Tricia? Thanks! (No doorbell in this one!)
