Thnks Erin.
I was thinking of Huysmans "The Oblate" (L'Oblat) which would complete the Durtal novels.

It would be really good to round off the Durtal books.

Might I ask what you'd be reading from? I had an admittedly very quick look, and the British Library doesn't have a scan. Google books does but says no preview. There's a scan on HathiTrust but not to view - at least for me. Although I haven't checked Abe and I am assuming you mean the 1924 translation, not the French original!

No, I wasn't planning to read it in French!
I found this version which I guess it's alright to use?

Hi Peter,

I'm not sure about that source, but the Percival translation is available on HathiTrust although it sounds like this may not be available to view outside the U.S. I can't find a DOD for the translator which would be the determining factor for PD status outside the U.S.

HathiTrust can be hit and miss. Sometimes it's perfectly clear why their scan isn't available to view, but other times I truly have no idea why it's blocked outside the US. They've been tantalising me with a collection of ghost stories by an author who's definitely PD! You can try contacting them to see if they'll release it. Or if you know someone with a login, ask if they're able to download it. As a long shot, I looked on Abe and there are 1924 copies going...
I'll keep thinking, but that's all I can come up with at the moment.
