It just keeps getting more exciting. But don't fear. Our reluctant hero will come through.

I just uploaded 24 so it may be another chapter you are thinking about? In any case, cool.
Yes - 22 and 23 are the ones I ticked as OK.philchenevert wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 12:57 pm

Checker reports the volume of chapter 26 is too hot (93.4 dB) so a 4 or 4.5 dB drop would be about right. A quick visual check in Audacity doesn't show any clipping so you're OK on that front.

I fixed 20 and have uploaded it again. Also I have reduced the volume of 26 by 3 dB. Should be OK now.
Chapter 24 -
at around 5:48 I hear "post officer" rather than "port officer", but it makes sense in the story, and Farmer uses post to describe the place a few paragraphs further on, so OK.
You got a bit of popping Ps in this chapter as well, but nothing unlistenable.
Therefore - PL OK.
I think Alan is severely underestimating Amra - she's a highly capable woman (a refreshing change from most stories of this vintage).

I haven't listened to 26 yet. I'm getting swept up in this story - savoring the chapters as I listen. It's great to be able to go through them in order.philchenevert wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 8:40 pm I fixed 20 and have uploaded it again. Also I have reduced the volume of 26 by 3 dB. Chapter 25 -
At around 0:25, I hear "the breeze was a - was a strong..." It's not too bad really, but it should be an easy edit.
At around 21:05, I hear "fish goddess, facing upward" - the text says "fish goddess, facing inward". This is important for the story, imho.
Getting exciting!

Rich, I will fix 25 today but I just wanted to thank you for putting up with the (to me) wild fluctuations in recording style and format as I tried many things with my microphone and set up to get a half way decent sound out of it. I know it made me cringe many times as the volume changed and the bass seemed overwhelming my P's then dropped away to nothing, then the sssss's surged, etc. Anyway, I have a new interface and will be testing it soon. Still having fun and this was a most interesting story. It seems he set this up for a sequel but don't see it anywhere.

Rich. Chapters 24 and 25 have been fixed and uploaded. I must say, your precise PL notes are wonderful, they make it so easy to find the problem. Also I agree that Amra the magnificient, is a great change from the clingy women of these early SF adventure types. She is beautiful, sexy, intelligent, tough and ambitious. Gee.
