Sonia is great in this role! (Wait, that did not come out right.)

I knew nothing of Kuprin before reading these stories. And I still know very little about his life. I can paraphrase something, I guess, but it won't be truly my own.

Kuprin is well-known to Russian readers and has been described as one of the last exponents of Russian critical realism. He first made a career as an officer in the army, but he left this work to take on employment as varied as journalist, hunter, fisherman, actor, and circus worker. His literary fame was launched with the publication in 1905 of Poyedinok (The Duel.)

OK, added to what you had before, I now have:
Kuprin is well-known to Russian readers and has been described as one of the last exponents of Russian critical realism. He first made a career as an officer in the army, but he left this work to take on employment as varied as journalist, hunter, fisherman, actor, and circus worker. That should be sufficient, and is at least a little more interesting than just "here are 12 short stories."

Yeah, I agree that Kuprin is well known among Russian readers. His works are included in school program of Russian literature (I remember "Oliesia" and "Pomegranate-colored wristband". I had a feeling he was underrated and not considered "classic" as other great Russian writers.
Thanks for bringing him to not-Russian readers!
Thanks for bringing him to not-Russian readers!
Russian readers wanted: Сказки, Мелкие рассказы Л. Андреева, Анна Ахматова (new), Short stories for Russian learners (и не только) (new).
Ukrainian readers wanted: Казки, Вiршi, Конотопська відьма (new)

I am fascinated with his style and subject matter.HannaPonomarenko wrote: ↑October 15th, 2020, 6:25 pm Yeah, I agree that Kuprin is well known among Russian readers. OK. This should fix everything, including the volume.KevinS wrote: ↑October 14th, 2020, 6:18 pmAnother great reading!kwdavids wrote: ↑October 14th, 2020, 1:41 pm Section 9 is uploaded:

All that's needed is to eliminate a repeat at 5:22 - 5:32 and two sounds, one at 9:36 and the other at 11:10.
You might consider looking at the lower volumes at 24:28 - 24:46 and 38:51 to the close.

I removed exactly 5 seconds for the repeat, so the removed sounds are at 9:31 and 11:05. I silenced them rather than deleting.
Kevin
At the last moment, I decided not to read this section in my "talk like a pirate" voice.
