Here is Section 5 - Juliet Ward Howe

I already ran the noise reduction. Is that how you PLs like to receive the files, or better to first-send the file before that's done? :?: ~Thanks!

Section 9 PL Notes:

º 14:46-51 - Repetition of "as confidently as if"/"as confidently as she had. . ."

º 31:02 - ". . .of likeness between the two careers of these two torch-bearers. . ." the first two needs to be omitted ("two careers") as it changes the meaning of the text.

Checker: Failed - Bitrate should be 128kbps; checker is showing a bitrate of ~99 kbps

*I also got a runtime of 32:36 instead of 32:18; this could just be my audio player, however, the audio time for me passed 32:18 right before the last paragraph. I used a stopwatch to play it through twice to make sure it wasn't a strange, one-time ordeal.
Well, we must have some kind of time warp. I found the errors at slightly earlier times. The first at 14:35 and the second is now at 30:33. With those to clips the file is now 32:13 measured by Audacity and Checker.

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/heroinesofservice_09_parkman_128kb.mp3 32:13

I am totally baffled by the change in bit rate. I never change that setting, and have never, ever had this happen, but this affected at least two file I recently uploaded. Happy to say both DPL's caught it.

Thanks for your good listening!

~Larry

Thank you.
I've been having issues with bit rate spontaneously changing, too. :hmm:

I'm glad to help in any way that I can! I did think it was a strange bitrate (and I think that the time hiccup could most likely be put on the variable bitrate as well). Everything lines up perfectly now and Section 9 is PL OK!

Checker: Passed

Section 5 PL Notes:

º 00:50-52 - "From" should be removed from "from Life of Julia Ward Howe"

º 01:10 - Sentence should be ". . .I told you about, Eliza,"; I hear "'. . .I told you about,' Whispered. . ."

º 05:35 - I hear "from th-old firm" instead of "from the old firm"

º 08:20 - There is a large section (over a paragraph) of text missing. The audio jumps from ". . .was still a place of wealth and fashion." to "But Brother Sam led her. . ."

º 10:19 - I hear "Misdward" (it sounds like the audio was edited over each other) instead of "Mister Ward"

º 10:32 - Mic bump during "Julia, herself,"

º 11:34 - I hear "Jolie Julia" instead of "Jolie Julie"

º 23:23 - I hear ". . .as life went on." instead of ". . .as time went on."

º 30:18 - Date should be removed. Reader can add name, city, blog/podcast or web address if desired as per BC and MC's instructions:
END of recording
* At the end of the section, say:
"End of [Chapter]"
* If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Checker: Passed

The date can be left. Although I’m not a fan, many readers, including some admins, always add the date.

The corrected copy for chapter 5 is uploaded.

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/heroinesofservice_05_howe_128kb.mp3 (now is 31:50)

I had fun figuring out how to fix all the little things, and . . .

Wow! How did I lose that entire passage? It must have been the place during the reading-in when UPS knocked at the door, and I missed the cue for where to pick back up.

PLs are awesome people!! Thanks!

I love Marie Curie. I'll do her chapter in a couple of weeks! :)
