OK, here it is: my first chapter for LibriVox. I wasn't sure how to handle the picture, so I did it the way I've heard other readers do. Thank you for letting me be a part of this process.

Thank you.

You should just ignore any picture and caption, except where a caption is more like an essay

Chapter 7 - Mary Antin
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/heroinesofservice_07_antin_128kb.mp3
PL Notes:

º 00:24 - I hear a mic bump after "chapter seven".

º 04:08 - I hear a sort of foot bump during "clothes and new shoes."

º 07:32 - I hear a sort of gulp sound (I presume from where reader is swallowing water and/or catching a breath) after "soft, dreamy grey."

º 07:44-47 - I hear "beyond the town, behi-beyond the river"

º 10:25-27 - I hear a repeat: ". . .possible for him to-to try his fortune. . ."

º 19:52-59 - Audio description of Mary Anton photograph should be removed. Photographs and photo captions should be ignored per BCs and MCs instructions.

º 27:16 - I hear a few mic bumps

º 27:21 - I hear a mic bump

º 26:33-27:32 - I hear some constant background noise; this could easily be fixed by using the noise reducer on Audacity.

Checker: Passed

*Most of the mic bumps and gulp noises can easily be edited out and background noise can be taken care of (like said) with noise reduction. If you would like help with any of this feel free to PM me and I can help :D

Thank you for all that commentary, erieston!

I am new with Audacity, but their tutorials led me along nicely for the edits. I worked a lot on a punch-in for the "beyond the river" part to match the tone as much as possible. Conclusion: doing a punch-in is not so difficult, but matching the tone sure can be, particularly during heater season. So always just repeat a sentence for cutting-out of mistakes. :)

I ran the Noise Reduction at 12,6,3. Here is the clean-up copy of Section 7: (27:21)

Thank you. There is a very steep learning curve, so just hang in there! And yes, if you notice you have made an error, it is easiest just to repeat the sentence and cut out the flub during editing. It is better to reread the sentence (or even paragraph) than just a word or phrase -- advice I don't always heed myself

We are very happy to have you here with us, Lynnette! I use Audacity for all of my broadcasting projects, and I remember how much of a nightmare it was for me to try and learn how to edit and redo parts (it still is a nightmare sometimes)! I'm glad you were able to use the videos as help :)

Section 7 now PL OK!

Section 9 PL Notes:

º 14:46-51 - Repetition of "as confidently as if"/"as confidently as she had. . ."

º 31:02 - ". . .of likeness between the two careers of these two torch-bearers. . ." the first two needs to be omitted ("two careers") as it changes the meaning of the text.

Checker: Failed - Bitrate should be 128kbps; checker is showing a bitrate of ~99 kbps

*I also got a runtime of 32:36 instead of 32:18; this could just be my audio player, however, the audio time for me passed 32:18 right before the last paragraph. I used a stopwatch to play it through twice to make sure it wasn't a strange, one-time ordeal.
