Uncollected Short Stories of L.M. Montgomery by Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874 - 1942).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/uncollected-short-stories-of-lm-montgomery-by-lucy-maud-montgomery/
A compilation of 80 short stories by the author of "Anne of Green Gables" that were not previously published in a book or in one of Project Gutenberg's short stories collections for this author. The subjects range from children's stories, to romance, humor and ghost stories. These short stories were published in various magazines from the years 1896 to 1924.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): Please read from the texts linked in the MW for each story.
However, if necessary all the story links can be found on this page: https://www.fadedpage.com/sc/montgomery.php
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

A couple of notes.

None of these stories are in the PG Short story collections for this author that we have here on Librivox. A handful (probably less than 5) have been recorded by readers for our various short story collections. I chose to include them even though they have been recorded.

Some of the stories may sound familiar, as a few were later adapted as chapters of, or in the case of "Una of the Garden" into an entire novel. Una was a serialized story that was later turned into "Kilmeny of the Orchard". The first version is about half the length of Kilmeny. I decided to include it as it is a different text.

And last, but not least, at this time please do not claim the last section, section 90. This is being reserved for a story that will fall into the public domain on January 1, 2020. It will be added and linked on that date, but not before. :-) As optimistic as I may be that this may be a popular collection, I find it unlikely that it will be completed before January 1st, so I feel safe in saving a spot for it.

Would it be selfish to claim two Christmas stories?

Probably.

That being the case, I'll just ask for 20 and 33, please.

I'll do these first and then take a turkey story if they haven't been claimed.

Thank you, Kevin.

There are two minor PL notes - one of which is my fault.
In the intro you say "Uncollected Short Works" it should be "Short Stories".
The in the outro, which is completely my fault - I forgot to change it in the template - it should be end of Section #, not end of Chapter.

Easy to repair!

And I won't make the same errors in my next few recordings, I promise.

I love LM Montgomery! I'd like to start with Sections 2, 12, 13 and 15 please.

EDIT: And 56-60, Una of the Garden. Does anyone know how to pronounce "Una" as it would be in Canada?

Hi Beth,

All yours ~ thank you!

As for Una, I have always pronounced it Oo-na, but I am not Canadian, so I can't speak for that. :-) Looking for the pronunciation online, the way I say it seems to be the general way. https://forvo.com/word/una/#es (Though I did find one that pronounced it U-na.)

Hello there!

I would like to take Section 39: The Story of A Pumpkin Pie.
I am new here, and my first sample recording was the first paragraph or a little less of it:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/The_Story_of_Pumpkin_Pie.mp3

Please let me know if that works, and I would like to go under the Pseudonym of McRed.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Regards,
McRed
