Sure, we all undestand that things happen, but it helps to check in and let us know..ThaisCruz wrote: ↑January 28th, 2020, 8:12 pm Section 178 - The Frogs and The Mice - 3:42

I apologize for the delay. Some things happened and I’m not at home (my usual place of recording) and won’t be for a while, so I feel the quality is lacking. I tried to clean up the audio, but it sounds like I’m at a bathroom or something!lol Will it do? If not, let me know and I’ll try recording it some place else.
Thank you.

Thanks Jane, that's really helpful and a very clear explanation, with great suggestionsJmbau13 wrote: ↑December 20th, 2019, 1:05 pm Oops, I wrote email where I should have written post. Sorry!
‘See PL notes’ is a bit opaque, isn’t it? It is just means ‘see the post which says what needs to happen’.
PL stands for Peer Listen /er (ie, someone else listening to your recording)
Now, I can’t remember at this point either. So what I do is search using the Search topic box . I put in just your forum name and search on that. The relevant posts appear in reverse order. I have to scan down through them, but when I find the relevant post, it tells me I said:
Section 4:
Very nice reading.
* The volume on this is way too low - only 83 dB as measured by Checker. Our target is 89 dB with a range of 86-92 dB. If you need help adjusting this, let me know, but since section 3 was correct, may be just an oversight.
* You have omitted to say “Fables of Aesop and Others, by Aesop” just before the fable name
* Could you correct the pause and stumble around 2.35, which is jarring to a listener?
(Optional, but I've added it as there are some corrections to be made): you may wish to double check your pronunciation of "ignominious".
Always ask when you don’t know. All happy to help.
Thank you for this. The volume is now just under 89 dB, which is perfect. I commend you to the Checker utility, which I run every file of mine and every recording for PL through, to check the basics. It's mentioned on the Newbie's Guide link and is invaluable. See here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker If you scroll down on the Information tab, it will tell you the dB rating.tels wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 1:09 pmThanks Jane, that's really helpful and a very clear explanation, with great suggestionsJmbau13 wrote: ↑December 20th, 2019, 1:05 pm Oops, I wrote email where I should have written post. Here's the fourth chapter:

About loudness, I still just amplifying until the max and use my eye to see that it falls between -12 and -6 most of the time. If there's a better way of doing this, I'd like to know. This time there was one loud moment, which pushed everything else down, but I fixed it.
Thanks for your leadership!

Thank you! The only issue on this one was your final silence a bit too short. There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording. On this occasion, I have adjusted it for you and thus marked the recording as PL OK, but if you could remember for any future recordings?hypsypops wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 7:45 am Thank you!
