The Tables Turned; an Evening Scene by William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-tables-turned-an-evening-scene-by-william-wordsworth/
Our author is urging his friend to quit his books, get outdoors and appreciate nature. ( David Lawrence )
Each fortnight a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This Fortnightly Poem has ben suggested by msfry.
This fortnight's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
The Tables Turned; an Evening Scene by William Wordsworth, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
Up! up! my Friend, and quit your books;
Or surely you'll grow double:
Up! up! my Friend, and clear your looks;
Why all this toil and trouble?

The sun, above the mountain's head,
A freshening lustre mellow
Through all the long green fields has spread,
His first sweet evening yellow.

Books! 'tis a dull and endless strife:
Come, hear the woodland linnet,
How sweet his music! on my life,
There's more of wisdom in it.

And hark! how blithe the throstle sings!
He, too, is no mean preacher:
Come forth into the light of things,
Let Nature be your Teacher.

She has a world of ready wealth,
Our minds and hearts to bless—
Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health,
Truth breathed by cheerfulness.

One impulse from a vernal wood
May teach you more of man,
Of moral evil and of good,
Than all the sages can.

Sweet is the lore which Nature brings;
Our meddling intellect
Mis-shapes the beauteous forms of things:—
We murder to dissect.

Enough of Science and of Art;
Close up those barren leaves;
Come forth, and bring with you a heart
That watches and receives.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: tablesturned_wordsworth_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. tablesturned_wordsworth_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

Thank you Kevin and Chad. :thumbs:

*Chad, there is an obvious decrease in sound quality between this reading and the one you submitted last week. Have your settings changed, are you using a new mic?

Hello, sometimes by doing another recording my mic changes audio quality?
Anyhow, I have attempted another recording just in case.
Here it is: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/tablesturned_wordsworth_cjph_128kb.mp3 Time: 01:29
Hope this one is better!
Kind regards,
Chad

Me again,
Sorry I couldn't stop! Here is another version, just for fun. I know I can have only one recording, but wtheck! Hahahaha! :evil:
https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/tablesturned_wordsworth_cmn_128kb.mp3
Duration: 3:10
Muahahahahaha!

P.S. Maybe, we should start making a few "twisted poems"parodic type of poetry recordings. Where every reader can be weird, obnoxious, funny, creepy, etc...Text-to-speech software is becoming too good and we need to bring something into our LV lectures, that Artificial Intelligence can't have yet.

I wandered by
Quite on a lark
But had to stay
Be still my heart!
To hear the lesson
Laid out before
Wordsworth on
The forest floor
I have a heart
That can perceive
Such words that are
So well conceived!
