[Complete] Children's Short Works, Vol. 030 - m8b1
Hello again!
I wanted to contribute another children's story.
Author: Unknown
Title: Happy and Gay Marching Away
URL to text: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/11098/11098-h/11098-h.htm
Audio recording ready for PLing: https://librivox.org/uploads/m8b1/csw030_happyandgaymarchingaway_cjph_128kb.mp3 Time: 05:28
Is the copyright status okay for this text in the UK? In future, how do I find out the copyright status of a piece of work by Unknown authors?
Kind regards,
Chad

Hi Chad,
Thank you ~ it is PL OK!
As for knowing the copyright status in the UK when the author is unknown - well there really is no way of knowing, if we don't know who the author is. If we know the publication date, we could at least have some idea, but this one does not even give that. It is old, going by the cover picture. I'd say most likely before 1900.
You should be fine and no worries.
If you are not sure, you can always ask before you record.
Just one quick thing. For future submissions can you try to make the file name a little shorter? It is not necessary to put the entire title in the file name, especially if it is very long! Thanks!

Hi Chad,
Something that is definitely a poem needs to go in the Short Poetry Collection. You can find the ongoing one here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=76036
