Selected Essays on Prohibition by Various ( - 0).

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/eighteenthamendm00stou/page/16; https://archive.org/details/handbookforspeak00free/page/234; https://archive.org/details/antisalooncampai00hoff/page/n35; https://archive.org/details/prohibitionpoems00herr/page/12; https://archive.org/details/jstor-25122196/page/n1; https://archive.org/details/jstor-25105303/page/n1; https://archive.org/details/menaceprohibiti00wighgoog/page/n4; https://archive.org/details/prohibition00debarich/page/284; https://archive.org/details/prohibition00debarich/page/6; https://archive.org/details/jstor-25108355/page/n1
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will provide more specific detail as to the readings (specific pages, etc.) should this project be accepted.

should this project be accepted
It's in the Launch Pad, which implies you're moving forward with this. Are you looking for confirmation that this is OK (in which case, putting in Book Suggestions is better), or are you actually launching this project and going to coordinate it?

Yes, I'd like to move ahead with it. I will BC and can guarantee that all the sections will be read, by me if need be. This is meant to be a group project, however.

By accepted, I mean secures an MC.

Okay. :)

For the record - every project secures an MC, albeit it may take a few days. The only exceptions I've seen are projects where the BC/soloist withdrew the project before an MC set it up. :) So it's not an "if" but a "when".

Before you take this off the launch pad, Kevin, I encourage you to consult the other collections regarding file name protocol.
What you have set up on your Travel Collection is not like what is used elsewhere, and will actually not be as easy for you to manage.
Draw from the experts who have all the kinks worked out.
Take a look at the current short story collection's opening post, here, which is on its 82'd collection now:

ss082_greatstory_lt_128kb
The file name indicates: collection name (short stories), volume # (82), Title (of the story), readers initials

There is also a clause in the first post telling the reader what to submit, to help you fill in the metadata.

Please post in this thread:
The link from the uploader.
Name of your story
Author (birth year - death year)
Translator if applicable (birth year - death year)
Source from which you read (e.g. Gutenberg etext url)
Length in mm:ss
If it is your first submission, how you would like to appear in the catalog. - please post it in this thread.

Our generic template generator does not provide this information. You have to add it to the OP yourself. If you'd like help with this, let me know. I am setting up my own Love Stories Collection, so am working out the same problems myself.

Except Kevin is choosing the texts in this project, so the files can be named by project name and section number. What you say is true for reader-chosen text projects (although I'd get rid of reader initials and use author surname, if it were up to me), but this one isn't a reader-chosen project. :)

Oh I thought he said above he meant it to be a group project, but would read them all if need be. I was going off of that.

Now wait for it. Inspired by Kevin's enthusiasm, I am about to launch my Love Stories.

And I do like the authors name as much as the reader's initials, too. Why not both?

I shall look for a love story. Must they all end happily?

What, no drama, no pain and suffering? Hopefully some stories will end happily, but I fear that criteria would make the project too hard to fill.

Can I suggest that you change the title to avoid confusion ? Collection around here tends to imply a reader chosen text project .
Something lilke "10 essays on prohibition" or even "Prohibition - a collection of essays" or something more inspired

Good point! I'll think of something new.

EDIT: Ten Essays on Prohibition is pretty good. Do you think Ten Selections Regarding Prohibition sounds too ... stiff? Old-fashioned?

In the unlikely event someone wants to add an essay---if that's allowed---maybe I just go with "Selected Essays on Prohibition."
