COMPLETE: Short Nonfiction Collection, Vol. 067 - jo

This is the first group project like this I've been a part of, so I'm not sure, but should this collection have already released?

Paciencia, mis amigos! We're all volunteers at LibriVox. Once all the edits are completed, there's a whole other round of things that have to get done before the collection can appear "in print." When I alert our metacordinaator that the collection is ready to catalog, Jo alphabetizes the selections, so nobody will complain that "he/she/they" got first billing at the top of the list. Then I compose an introductory paragraph, which synthesizes the 20 disparate readings into something resembling a collection.--Not easy to do! I also list "key words" to help people search the collection. Then, since I also make the covers for the collection, I undertake to list all of the readers names and selections on the cover, and I proof this for spelling etc. When the intro and cover are ready, I send those to Jo, and then she has to find time to do the data entry to make the whole thing appear in print.

Here's my intro, so you'll realize we're "underway" and the collection will go to print in all good time:

Twenty short nonfiction works chosen by the readers. Two U.S. Presidents are remembered in "A Colored Man's Reminiscences of James Madison" and Washington's "Address to Congress on Resigning His Commission (1783)." Other topics in history and political theory include two of George W. Ball's memos about the Vietnam War from 1965, "Irish Marriage Rites," "Celts and Celtophiles," Kropotkin on "Anarchism in Socialistic Evolution," a tragedy at sea ("The Titanic"), and a look back at "The Passing of the Sailing Ship." Religion and philosophy are represented with two selections from Kierkegaard's "Preparation for a Christian Life" and a sermon by Spurgeon ("Glorious Predestination"). Biographies pay homage to the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. How-to and guidance readings include farming advice from George Washington Carver ("Help for Hard Times"), "Teaching Mathematics with Paper Folding," "Sexual Neuroses," and "Elementary Lessons in Cookery." "The Common Milkweed" celebrates one of summer's roadside flowers. Finally Richard de Bury pens a tribute to books in a selection from the Philobiblon, written in 1345. Summary by Sue Anderson

Yup. Lots of things happening behind the scenes. Everything gets into the catalog in due course.

Timing depends on a few things - your MC, time it takes for files to validate and then transfer and derive at archive.org and so on. These collections take a little longer than a simple solo as Sue has noted above. Once it's all done, this thread will be marked complete and moved to the Completed Projects forum and the collection will show in the new releases in the catalog.
