We were up till midnight (way past our usual bedtime) holding onto tranquilized dogs. Fourth of July is soooooooo much fun, especially with my Vietnam War induced aversion to loud noises and flashes of light.

You got no rain but we got an earthquake  This far away from epicenter the shaking was gentle but of course unnerving - and it lasted for some 40 seconds, longest earthquake I've ever felt. Usually they're over before my adrenaline gets going. But the good news is that it must have released lots of pentup energy, so the next one will not be so bad ????? At least the dogs took it in stride - no accounting for canine reactions to anything.

18 PL OK. Finished!

I would suggest removing the birth-death years from the summary. If you knew the years that he worked professionally in "weather" I would feel they should be included.
